Not perfect but still a good guitar stand,

I was bit worried ordering this considering the previous reviews, but since I needed a stand that held more than 3 guitars I figured I'd try it.
My only real beef is that I ordered it new but I obviously received a used stand (or at least a returned one). The box was actually open, not even closed and taped. And some of the pieces were scratched. I would guess it may have been a store display item so I'm a bit peeved at the seller, but since the stand is going in my basement and the marks were what I figured we'd be putting on it anyway through using it I decided to put it together to see if it was worth keeping. Thankfully there is a picture on the box of what the finished stand looks like because the directions were slightly confusing, but I managed to put it together by myself in about a a 1/2 hour. At one point, the directions indicated that the bottom piece should be level on the floor (before the back/top was attached) and if it wasn't, to "adjust". Mine wasn't level and I was pretty confused as to "how" to adjust to fix it. I did the best I could, attached the rest and it still wasn't quite flat on the floor (though only slightly off). The weight of the guitars seem hold it flat down to the floor, plus it will be used a carpeted surface so I think it'll be fine. The rubber material is great, really holds items in place. I have an electric, acoustic, small child size acoustic & rockband guitar on the stand and they all fit just fine and seem held sturdy. I would recommend this stand if you are looking for one that holds 5 guitars and takes up minimal space. After writing my review, I happened to come across a similar stand but curved...it looks WAY cooler...wish I would have seen it before purchasing this one, and it's the same price! http://www.amazon.com/RS20885-5-Guitar-Curved-Stand/dp/B001FQD172/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1272260556&sr=1-2

Go for a tripod stand instead,

I've seen a few of these before I ordered one. When it works, it is a good, solid product that can hold multiple guitars in a small space. However, the legs on the one I ordered are uneven, the welding between the parts looks shoddy, and the whole thing wobbles-- not exactly the piece of furniture that I would trust with holding a few thousand dollars worth of instruments. I'm returning mine and opting for tripod style stands, which are stable on any floor surface.

- It expensive, you pay a lot for what you get.
- Assembling it is easy. - After a month of light use, some rubber parts have broken. Not very good quality. - Meh.

While I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the order arrived, I was quickly disappointed. The packaging was shoddy, hinting that I may have been handed a previously returned item. As soon as I was done assembling the base, I realized it wouldn't work: the holes in the metal parts were so badly aligned, and the two legs were of unequal height, that it would not sit flush on all four legs. I could have assembled the rest of it thinking to just "make do" with it, but why should I waste 60 dollars on a bad product. I have decided to return it asap, hoping to find another brand which has not botched this very simple product.

First of all the item I received (from Sam Ash) was not the item pictured. The item pictured has a rounded base and legs. The item I received has the model number Warwick Rockstand RS 20881 B/1 FP. If you search for this, you can see that it has two straight bars to hold the guitar rather than the one piece shown here. Additionally, I found that one of the screws would not tighten firmly. There is a slight bit of wobble, but I don't think it will fall over if it's on solid ground. It holds five electric guitars/basses in my studio as well as can be expected for this type of stand. I don't think I'd feel comfortable putting it on some of the less stable stages I have played on, but it should be fine if put on a solid surface. I have put polish rags between the neck and the stand as it's uncertain whether the padding will affect the finish (and there is a warning about this on the box, yet the description implies this stand is safe). For me, it's useful and not worth the hassle to return it, but I don't think I would have bought it if I had a chance to see it in the store. I don't know that there is anything better out there and if you want something like this, the only other option I see is to build one yourself. My rating 2 stars: -1 for wrong description/picture, -1 for poor fitting materials, -1 because it's really not much of a value at $60.

I bought this stand to have my 5 main guitars right
at hand in my home DAW studio working position. Before I was using tripod stands, and had to get up every time I wanted to change guitars. So for this purpose, it does a really good job - all 5 guitars are right at hand in a compact space, and they sit in place just fine without too much bumping. But the construction is a bit cheesy. You could squash the whole thing with your hands if you tried. I can't imagine using it on stage - I just don't think it would hold up like a multi-guitar stage case/stand. For the studio, it's just perfect.

This is a well put together, solid piece of guitar furnature. Assembly was a snap and the legs are adjustable to accommodate most any floor surface. First rate!

The stand is sturdy and does the job - nothing fancy. The price was very reasonable. I wouldn't use it for high end guitars, however. They need more protection.
