5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Rockabilly
My comments mirror exactly what Jack Barry said in his review. I I have always loved rockabilly music, but I have found that most of the modern bands do not quite get it right. They seem to over-do it a bit, and get too wild. But this is not the case with Rockabilly Rumble CD. This is the best compilation album of modern rockabilly music that I have ever heard.

1.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars? No way!
This compilation is awful. First of all, I love the sound of Rockabilly, but the genre needs a serious injection of originality and this cd is proof. Every single song is horribly cliched, you know, "go cat go","kittens this...kittens that...", any reference to a cadillac, it's all there. I knew going into this that not all twenty or so songs would cut...

It is a sampler of the various artists on the Golly Gee and Raucous Labels. Every track is great - some are terrific. My favorite bands are the Slingshots, Spinouts, Ralph Rebel, Peter & The Wolves, Riverside Trio, Rebel Rockers, and Jive Romeros.

The liner notes identify the particular album each track was taken from. I then went back onto the Amazon website to see if my favorite items were available. I ended up placing an order today for 5 additional CDs (2 of them are by Ralph Rebel). So this can serve as a warning that this experience can get expensive. However it is well worth the price for this terrific rockabilly music. I am now looking forward to receiving the individual CDs by these great artists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Rockin' Record - My best CD purchase of the year!, December 20, 2003

This review is from: Rockabilly Rumble (Audio CD)
I don't normally write reviews but I just picked up a copy of Rockabilly Rumble and I am wearin' it out. I didn't realize there were so many cool bands still playing rockabilly music. There is not a bad cut on this CD. I'm usually nervous about buying something that's listed as one of the most popular items in a category but I have no regrets on this one. If you like rockabilly music than this is a "must have" CD. Gotta go - I wanna get in my car and drive around some more with this CD turned up loud.

5.0 out of 5 stars Killer Rockabilly? You Better Believe It!, August 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Rockabilly Rumble (Audio CD)
This is the best rockabilly sampler of modern rockabilly bands that I have ever purchased! It's way cool to have both the British rockabilly and American rockabilly sounds on the same disc. I love all 24 tracks - my favorite band is Peter and The Wolves - "Rock n' Roll Boogie" is a serious bopper. Ralph Rebel's "Rebel Rouser" sounds absolutely authentic. If you dig the classic rockabilly sounds you won't regret buying this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Happy About Buying This CD, August 21, 2005
This review is from: Rockabilly Rumble (Audio CD)
If you are a Rockabilly fan and just want to have a few CD's in your collection, then this is definitely a great place to start. I love rockabilly, but aside from one Stray Cats CD I didn't own a rockabilly CD until I found this one. It has a little bit of everything and it never gets tiresome. An awsome CD.

If you like Rockabilly then this is a must have especially if you are unfamiliar to the newer artists playing Rockabilly. From track 1 all the way to track 24 there isn't a let up. Also check out Rockabilly Rumble Deuce because it is just as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal CD! Great Rockabilly!!, April 15, 2006

I picked up this CD recently together with Rockabilly Rumble Deuce. Golly Gee Records and Raucous Records have put together a winner here. Fantastic modern rockabilly music that has high quality production but with a vintage feel. 24 tracks and an hour's worth of great rockabilly music - this is a deal! There wasn't one bad cut on the record. Purchase with confidence and get ready to bop and jive!

Every single song is horribly cliched, you know, "go cat go","kittens this...kittens that...", any reference to a cadillac, it's all there. I knew going into this that not all twenty or so songs would cut the mustard, but I would have been satisfied with 7 or 8 decent songs. Redoing classic music isn't necessarily bad (look at all the great modern surf groups), but this stuff is bad. If you want to hear the same song played over and over by groups whose only distinction are different names, by all means, check it out.

2.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like this cd but........., October 15, 2005
This review is from: Rockabilly Rumble (Audio CD)
I eagerly awaited the arrival of this cd wanting to hear some new rockabilly bands I was not familiar with, but I was severly dissapointed. The quality of the tracks on this cd are mediocre at best and some are just downright bad, the two standout tracks are red hot and real gone by the spinouts(great tune, good hook, excellent slap bass, guitar interplay)The other standout is girl of my dreams,by peter and the wolves, very Elvis, Maries the Name era early sixties sounding. The majority of the other tunes are just dowright pitiful. If you are new to the rockabilly scene, a few helpful suggestions, The Stray Cats, The Blasters, Robert Gordon, The Planet Rockers, Sun era and 56-59 Elvis, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, the list goes on and on of better spent dollars on QUALITY rockabilly music, apologies to these artists, but if this is the current state of rockabilly, please somebody help us!!!!!!

If you like the newer Punk/Rebel Rock-A-Billy you'll like this disc.

I play a few of the cuts off it on the rock-a-billy review radio show from time to time.
