Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Nine Inch Nails

As a father of three and a devout fan of hard rock/metal, I was rather skeptical of the concept of rock songs turned into baby lullabies. However, when I found out my wife was pregnant with our first child together (child #2 for me) I immediately thought about this series that I first blew off as nonsense. What a better way to connect with a tiny infant then sharing what you love the most aside from your family. My first purchase in the series was the Hot Topic exclusive edition and I found it phenominal. My daughter, during her stay in the hospital, would fall asleep in my arms to the tunes of Slayer, Tool, Nirvana to name a few on it. It was a welcome addition to our collection.

By the time daughter two came around, this album came out. The haunting opening to Hurt would just soothe her to sleep. Having heard the songs while in the womb, she knows what they are. Every night we turn this on or any of the other Rockabye's that we own. For any fan of NIN, you can actually hear the "real" version playing in your head while you are taking care of your child. It's almost as if this was a Halo that Trent himself put out in the same vein as Ghosts I-IV or Still. The Hand That Feeds translates surprisingly well. Closer focuses more on the ending of the song then the opening. Sin is also a favorite. Something I Can Never Have makes me think of it as the remix that never was.

All in all, a great buy for any fan of NIN looking for a slower pace. For parents looking to share their passion? A must.

We started playing music in our infant's nursery after our first visit to his daycare, where we noticed them playing music in the crib room to provide white noise for the sleeping babies. The idea of a lullaby-ized version of music we already enjoy listening to appealed to us, so we started out with a couple of the titles in the Rockabye baby series. We've enjoyed them so much that we're now up to ~15 of these, if for no other reason than to provide US with some variety as we rock our child before putting him down for the night. By removing the words and playing the songs at a more or less constant volume, they provide a soothing bedtime experience without the sudden changes in volume and tempo that might otherwise startle or excite a child that you're trying to get (and then keep) asleep.

I was hoping that the Nine Inch Nails disc would be as good as some of the others that we've tried, but for whatever reason we cannot get our son to go to sleep when this album is playing. It might be fine for simply having on in the car while driving with your baby, but after several failed attempts in our household, I would not recommend it for bedtime play.

For parents looking for top CDs we have tried in this series, I would highly recommend the Coldplay (our favorite of the 15 we have), More Beatles (much better than the first one), Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses, Queen, and Beach Boys albums.

This whole catalog is impressive. I own the Radiohead, TOOL, and NIN and I don't even have kids. I just wanted to hear it but it's rather amazing. It's rather soothing music for this genre of music. I'll buy more.

As subversive as NIN's lyrical content is sometimes, as a fan from the early days, I found myself amazed by how well the music translates to the lullaby format! I was really skeptical about getting this one, but said what the hell - NIN's melodies are haunting, repetitious and melodic, which I think would add another stimulus to our baby boy's environment. I would definitely recommend this one - a side benefit too all of these is that it helps you appreciate the melodic and musicality of your favorite artists as well!!

Love this CD - quite relaxing even for adults if you like nine inch nails, defiantly one for the fans if you don't have any children.

Purchased this CD as a present for a friend who has all the Nine Inch Nails CDs. I doubt he has this one so I bought it. Check out Hush Little Baby for more Rock inspired lullaby's. Great CD for hip parents!

I love this album! I bought it for my baby daughter, but also for my husband. I always play classical or light music in the car for our baby and that drives him nuts, so I heard of Rockabye Baby and here we are. All three of us love it!

I enjoy all the rockabye renditions. I teach preschool and it is a nice break for me too when I put any of these selections on at naptime. This one is my favorite though. I am a big NIN fan, so it was nice to hear even some of their newest in this remix. I can't wait for Green Day's rendition to become available in the near months.

We have several of these Rock-A-Bye Cds and this is by far my favorite. They are all good but this one "rocks"

I have six Rockaby Baby! cd's. This is my least favorite. I love Nine Inch Nails, but they missed the mark with this one. I was really disappointed when I first listened. Maybe it will grow on me, but it's going to take a while before I listen again.
