Editorial Reviews

You know it. With the lights out, it's less dangerous. These lullaby renditions of Nirvana's best-loved songs turn the volume way down, while turning up the dreaminess of their pop hooks. In many ways, this album echoes the simple pleasures and innocence of infancy and childhood. Childish tra-la-la's tempered the distortion of Nirvana's own songs. Chimes, glockenspiels and other gentle instruments temper Nirvana's wild spirit for your little one. "Smells Like Teen Spirit?" Smells like nap time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now that we are all grown up October 26, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
When Kurt Cobain was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot, I was in art school in Eugene, Oregon. I was a big fan of what became grunge and eclipsed that day (actually probably earlier as soon as the mainstream devoured it). At any rate, on that day I would have thought that a collection of lullaby versions of Nirvana songs was as hideous as maybe a Kurt Cobain commemorative coffee cup at Starbucks. Fast forward a few years, and guess what? I have kids and drive an SUV. Now do I want my babies listening to the schlock they sell to kids? The saccharine sweet drivel from way to prozac'ed brightly costumed idiots? No way. My babies go to sleep to Nirvana. Suck up your pride and admit you sold out...and buy this cd.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good lullaby CD November 4, 2006

I really enjoyed this CD for myself and my baby. The songs are not heavy at all. Basically, it's just the Nirvana song played w/bouncier instruments. The songs are really good and it was kind of fun to guess which song was playing because it's not really noticable that you're listening to Nirvana. We have also bought some Baby Einstein Mozart and it was not nearly as enjoyable as this CD. I found it very relaxing to listen to.I especially enjoyed the About a Girl track. My baby did fall asleep to the CD the one time we listened to it.

My CD did come w/some cracks on the case.

I have the Rockabye Baby CDs for NIN and Tool, so I thought Nirvana would be just as much fun. However, these songs were scary. I'll be playing this as my Halloween music. Honestly, most of this sounds warped and evil. It's probably because Nirvana did not write very complex arrangements - most were basic and fast, and it sounds like murderous clown music when slowed down and music-boxed.
I won't be playing this for my little one, but it is very effective mood music if you want to terrify someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nirvana for babies
This makes you more sane listening to "nursery" songs while rocking your babies! It's really well done, on a xylophone!

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay I suppose
Not as good as others such as Pink Floyd or Bob Marley.... Hard to really make out any of the songs as Nirvana... Basically sounds like random lullabye music...
