5.0 out of 5 stars Merry Christmas from the Best Vocal Group Ever!, November 10, 1999
This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
I have been a Rockapella fan since I was 15 years old. I have all 11 of their albums, 7 of which were released exclusively in Japan. Amazon.com is doing a wonderful job by offering these imports to American as well as international consumers. This album is definitely worth the wait and the money. The guys mix holiday songs with a few non-holiday ditties to produce yet another excellent album. Still not as great as Vocobeat, but up there nevertheless. My favorite songs from this album include the first track, Last Night, a sweet song about the end of a relationship happening on New Year's Eve. Another favorite is "For the Better, For the Worse," which is about a broken relationship. "Rock River" is an inspirational song which makes me sing as loud as I can whenever I hear it. Their Christmas songs are wonderful also, providing a sort of traditional spin on the vocals with interesting sounds to make up the background "music." Applause, applause, and "Encore, encore" from this Rockapella fan. I highly recommend this and every album to anyone interested in hearing a unique and extremely talented group of vocalists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Just for the Holidays..., December 4, 2000
By
This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
While the holiday tunes on "Out Cold" are sure to please (they're all great, but of special note are the beautiful "I Know Christmas," written by Rockapella member Scott Leonard for his son Jesse, and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," sung to safari-style "music"), the non-seasonal songs make this album a must-hear any time of the year!

The original version of "Last Night" is on this album, and is just as lovely as the version that's found on "Don't Tell Me You Do." Sean Altman's "For the Love" is a groovin' sixties-style song, while "Come My Way" is one of the best songs he's ever written. Bass Barry Carl contributes the snazzy "Bored and Stroked," and Elliott Kerman sings lead on (and co-wrote) the gorgeous ballad "Rock River." Jeff Thacher fans should be sure to check out his "drum" solo on "NYC Winter" - amazing!

"Out Cold" was the first Rockapella album I bought, and I was thoroughly impressed. A definite must-have for your collection. Five stars and applause from this fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars A rockin' acapella approach to Christmas, November 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
For any acapella lover this is the Christmas album for you. Rockapella's blending and vocal abilities run virtually unparalleled in modern acapella music. This album has a great combination of original and traditional Christmas music. If you are looking for a Christian approach to Christmas with this album, you are barking up the wrong tree. You will however be very pleased with this rather expensive purchase. You won't miss the money after you hear it, I promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deck'n the halls we go fa la la..., July 10, 2000

This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
When i first heard this CD I was truley amaized at the renditions of songs laid down here. From the very warm "I Know Christmas" to the tradtional "GLOW WORM/It's Beginning" to the funny "Secret Santa" and even the thought provoking "NYC Winter" It has it all! To top it all off the newly arranged "Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer" tured into a safari chant is outstanding! It will put you in the mood for the holidays in the middle of July! BUY IT NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential holiday listening, April 14, 2000

This was the first Rockapella album I ever bought and an excellent introduction to the group's style and sound. There's everything from silly ("Secret Santa") to sweet and sappy ("I Know Christmas"), all with that wonderful blending of vocals that these guys do better than anyone. This disc never leaves my player during the holiday season, but it's not uncommon for me to listen to it in July, either. You must hear this CD to believe it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Christmas CD, January 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite CD's. The traditional Christmas tunes are done with the great style and individuality that Rockapella brings to all of their music. Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer is outrageous! This CD has a nice mixture of styles; from Scott Leonard's "1st Night" to Sean Altman's "For the Love". Although the CD is expensive, it was well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Look at Christmas, December 16, 1999
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
From the Japanese Christmas song (Christmas Ceasefire) to the traditional Christmas song, this CD is amazing. Elliott's Rock River is beautiful, as is Scott's I Know Christmas. Putting together Glow Worm and It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas was ingenious, but you haven't heard anything until you've heard Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. You will NEVER listen to Rudolph in the same way again. It blew me away when I first heard it - and everyone I have played it for feels the same way. It's the most requested song in my car! You HAVE to hear it to believe it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent album - not just for late December!, March 6, 2000

This review is from: Rockapella 5: Out Cold (Audio CD)
I bought this a few weeks ago as I was dying to hear the recording of Last Night on this release and was extremely pleased at the content of the rest of the album! From the classic doo-wop to advanced modern a'capella, Rockapella does it all, and does it better than any group I have personally ever heard. It's only March, and I still find myself listening to the Christmas songs on this album, due to the fact that they are timeless songs - vocal masterpieces on their own. Recommended purchase, even at the fairly insane pricing scheme of imports. :)
