5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the bunch, January 22, 2000

This CD is absolutely the BEST of the 5 Rockapella CDs I have. I love "Pretty Woman" and "Hounddog"...songs we have all heard before but NOT LIKE THIS! I can't help but find myself singing along in my car and my kids love the fun, upbeat tunes. GET THIS CD FIRST if you are an accapella and Rock and Roll fan. Any new CDs with older 1950's to 1960's themes coming out? Let me know!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! It was well-worth a trip overseas to obtain it!, June 8, 1999

I had to go to Japan to purchase this CD five years ago, but now anyone can get it right here in the US! Don't let the price scare you off: the musicianship contained on this album is stellar, from the variety of music selections to the overall performance of each tune. This is the perfect intro-to-acappella-music album for people who think music is incomplete without instruments! For people who already love this performance genre, this CD should be in their library. Bravo, gentlemen, on a job well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome blend of voices!, January 19, 2000

This review is from: Rockapella Two - From NY (Audio CD)
I got this CD for Christmas and I love it! My favorite song is "Heart of Gold" because their four voices just flow along. "Tokyo Yo-Yo" and "Fliptop Twister" are upbeat, moving songs, which are also very good. This CD is the best because of the talent and the great sound of Sean, Barry, Elliot, and Scott. Oh, one more thing. Do any of you Rockapella fans have a CD/tape called "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" I got it a couple years ago. It features Urban Blight, Three Brave Woodsmen, and the Persuasions, along with songs by Rockapella. My all-time favorite Rockapella song "Everything to Me" is on there. Do any of you guys have this tape? If you do, let me know somehow!

Of all the 5 CD's listed here, this is my favorite. I try to cycle through the CD's on a daily basis, but I keep coming back to this one. If you like Barry's Bass, then this is a must, his Bass line is easy to follow and it's one of the best renditions of Sixty Minute Man and Pretty Woman. Just remember this is pre-Jeff (vocal percussionist) but a really great CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best... If Not The Best, June 2, 2000

This is by far, my favorite album of their's so far ! It has a little of everything. You get wild and crazy with "LONG COOL WOMAN IN A BLACK DRESS" and "CRAZY 'BOUT AN AUTOMOBILE" but then slow down with "HEART OF GOLD" and "A CHANGE IN MY LIFE". Then you're gettin' sexy with "SIXTY MINUTE MAN" (One of my favorites), but mysterious with "WHY" and "BED OF NAILS". And of course... "ZOMBIE JAMBOREE"... A Classic Great !

I HIGHLY recommend this album to any A Cappella fan or to anyone just looking for Great Music ! --Ross

5.0 out of 5 stars Invest in your music collection..., October 14, 2000
This review is from: Rockapella Two - From NY (Audio CD)
This is one of Rockapella's collections that best captures the joy of performance in the air at their concerts. If you're a Barry fan like I am, you'll back Hound Dog up over and over just to hear "bow wow wow ruff ruff ruff" a million times. If you're new to Rockapella, this CD, Vocobeat, and Primer are your must-haves. Just awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best, July 19, 2001

I own all of Rockapella's CDs, and this one is one of my top favorites. From NY is a feel-good album; I love to listen to it during my daily commute, singing and bopping along all the while! While Jeff Thacher's VP is missed (he wasn't with the group at the time this CD was recorded), the fifteen tracks are absolute gems, each standing out in its own way. Of Rockapella's import albums, and of their entire catalog, From NY is an absolute standout CD.

Out of the three Rockapella CDs I play for my customers I get by far the most requests for this CD. It seems to put everyone who walks in in an instant "feel good" mood---even on a Monday. The selections are very upbeat, many of them great for dancing and great for rockin' out on your commute to work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Rockapella, March 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Rockapella Two - From NY (Audio CD)
This album is a nice mix of covers and originals. Fliptop Twister is definitely one of my all time Rockapella favorites, while Pretty Woman and Zombie Jamboree are covers that have a Rockapella twist not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time., March 8, 1999

I had been looking for a Rockapella album since I saw a TV special they had about 6+ years ago. The music is better than I remember. Its just amazing what some talented individuals can do without any type of backup music. This album is well worth the price!
