Rocked, Wired & Bluesed by the 80's baddest Cinderella!!!,
By
This review is from: Rocked Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Arguably, the best of the '80's Metal Bands. Never could figure out why they where so underrated, they had an amazing lead singer in Tom Keifer (What couldn't the man do.) and that Polygram did nothing for them. They had the talent to be another band that stays around like Aerosmith, just keeps you rockin' and begging for more.
With the Rocked, Wired and Bluesed greatest hits package. Their older fans already have these songs, it offers nothing new and only get these songs digital enhansed with the new technology. With no new goodies on this one, I just burned my own copy from their original releases and made a second disc (see track list below). Another draw back to this release it covers their early career well and leaves off too many good tracks from Heartbreak Station and Still Climbing. Now if your picking up this release as your first Cinderella album you will love this 17 song collection of their best hits. Also realize there's a bunch of tracks missing from this release, that should be on it. You definately will want to pickup all their releases, because they are that good of a band. Now I mentioned that, I burned my copy of this from their Original releases and went a step further and burned a second disc with 17 tracks. Well here's the trackinglist of that disc: Nothin' For Nothin', Once Around The Ride, In From The Outside, Second Wind, Take Me Back, Love's Got Me Doin'Time, Sick For The Cure, One For Rock And Roll, Make Your Own Way, Love Gone Bad, All Comes Down, Talk Is Cheap, Through The Rain, Easy Come, Easy Go, The Road's Still Long, Move Over and War Stories.

Back in the 1980s, when I was "metaler than thou," I trashed Cinderella as "just another hair band."
Well, a hair band they were. But now that I can drop the tough pose, hey, their stuff was pretty good! What has *happened* in between then and now is the death of music. Tell me that I'm supposed to take lame "Coldplay" seriously, but not Cinderella. Sorry, I just can't do that. "Gypsy Road" is just plain and simple hard rockin' fun, to cruise to with the top down. Take, for instance, "Shake Me." By 80's standards, it was pop. Twenty years later, I'm headbanging to it incessantly. Again: I'm supposed to respect Justin Timberlake seriously, but not Cinderella? Can't do that, either. Time for all you "purist" metalheads to realize what greatness lies in these so-called cheesy hair bands. It's a wonderful feeling getting all sentimental about music I thought I was too good for twenty years ago, but something deep inside me told me wasn't really so bad after all. Shame on me for being such a jerk. I'm even warming up to Bon Jovi, Poison, and Whitesnake now. It may have taken two decades, but now I'm Nobody's Fool.

the only Cinderella CD you'll need,
This review is from: Rocked Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Being from Philadelphia, this band was a huge deal in the 80s. I even remember when they went from being a "local bar band" then Night Songs came out and they were on MTV and it was cool to see their success. However, while Cinderella was (is) a good band, I don't think they are ever going into the Hall of fame or anything like that. Back in the day I had Night Songs on cassette and Long Cold Winter on LP, and now a couple of decades later I wanted to hear "Shake Me" again so I picked up this CD. I debated between getting Night Songs and this greatest hits, and figured the hits disc might have some gems I hadn't heard. My overall feeling to this CD is.... "eh." After several listens, Shake Me is still my favorite and often the only song I listen to from this disc. If you're anything less than a hardcore Cinderella groupie, this CD should be all you need from this band. Tom Keifer's voice kind of wears on me after a while. Eric Brittingham is a heck of a nice guy. I wanted to love this CD but it kind of fell short of my hopes. Standout tracks: Shake me, Nobody's Fool, Gypsy Road

Another Great Cinderella Anthology,
By
This review is from: Rocked Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
ROCKED, WIRED & BLUESED is yet another great anthology of the 80s blues-metal band Cinderella. During the first half, you can hear how they quickly changed from a pure "hair band" to a heavy metal version of Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Outlaws, and continued to evolve in that direction until they lost their recording contract in the mid-90s. Even if you have ONCE UPON A..., you should not pass this one up.

A great, but not perfect, compilation,

I echo the sentiments of the other reviewers regarding Cinderella. Kieffer should be considered the John Fogarty of his generation -- wrote virtually all of the songs, sang, played lead guitar among other instruments. He is an extremely talented musician and wrote some of the best rock songs of the '80s-'90's metal years. I also wish that they hadn't placed themselves among the glam-rockers in terms of looks, because they really can't be compared to hacks like Poison. Cinderella is a truly outstanding rock band and they put on a terrific show if you get the rare opportunity to see them live.
With regard to this compilation, it would have been nice to see some other cuts featured, which I believe are better and show off the band's capabilities a bit more. For example, I would have scrapped Night Songs in favor of Hell on Wheels; Sick for the Cure rather than Winds of Change; and the incredible Free Wheelin' was a glaring omission. This compilation is also very similar to others done in the past in terms of song selection. Nevertheless, if you don't already own all their regular releases, or you just want one disc to pop into the player on your way to work, you can't go wrong with this one. Now let's get some new music, Tom!

I liked these songs when they came out 20 yrs. ago. Always thought the name was cheezy (still is). This cd has 19 tracks and every one of them rocks. Some good jams that I had never heard before too. Nice blues slide guitar work w/ a bad attitude on vocals. Worth picking up.

This band is awesome,

I love Cinderella. I bought the first complilation cd years ago called Once Upon a Time. I am not sure why I didn't care for that cd, something was just missing. So I sold it, and eventually replaced it with this new hits cd. I love this hits release over Once Upon a Time, the sound is killer, and even better is the companion DVD, pick that up and your Cinderella collection is complete.

Forget all their greatest hits cd's. You need to buy each of their individual cd's. They only have 4 and every song is good.

Cinderella greatest hits!!!!!,

Cinderella are and always have been one of the most talented groups. Every song on this album is incredible, from the first to the last track. My personal faves are Long Cold Winter, omg, can Tom Kiefer's voice give you any more emotion? The answer is yes, this is one of the best bluesy rock ballads you'll ever hear. And how can one forget the power ballad that is, don't know what you've got.
I have been a fan of hair metal since the 80s and have always defended hair metal in that, it was an era when every member of the band had to have some talent, that's why bands like Cinderella have stood the test of time, not just because they had fantastic hair!!!! LOL!! Buy this album if you want to hear good music, if you don't like good music, well it probably won't do anything for you!! |
