Outstanding collection,

While this album doesn't quite rock as much as some of Knott's releases, it is easily one of his best, most cohesive set of songs. Songs like 'Serious' DO rock, but overall the album is slightly on the mellow side.
Don't be fooled by the low selling price, this is quality Knott. Great production values, songwriting and performances rank this up there with 'Fluid' as among my favorites. The CD is essentially a collection of songs about the people living in and around Michael's apartment building - a mixed bag of oddballs, loosers and freaks - just the kind of people Jesus would hang out with. If you're a fan and don't have this CD - shame on you.. if you're new to Michael Knott - this is as good a place to start as any. For everybody else - this is quite simply a GREAT album and WELL worth triple the price.

I could have done without "Kitty Courtesy - what's in the pot" but even that song has great music! Perhaps Knott's best album

Michael Knott fans seem to be especially fond of this release. It contains some great songs, including the title track. Many of the songs are about a lot of peculiar people that lived in the same apartment complex Knott lived in. People like "Kitty Courtesy" and "Jan the Weatherman". Because of this I often think of Knott as a sort-of "Tom Waits" of alternative Christian music. The album is unique and does not feature a lot of the heavy rock that's associated with his main band, LSU. Knott, one of the greatest underground alternative Christian rockers, doesn't make "preachy" Christian music that gets air play like songs by Third Day. That's a good thing. Pick up this album, whether you're religious or not, you won't be disappointed!

I am not a Christian, but Michael Knott claims to be a Christian singer. Though he does not preach. He is authentic. His music is about real people, in real life situations. That's it. No indoctrination. No evangelical overtones. Just music. Real. Raw.
"What am I supposed to learn? I haven't learned it yet. Smoke another cigarette." Again, I am not a Christian, but I love Michael Knott. He was (and is) one of the most innovative musicians in the 1990s and receives little to no recognition. I cannot recommend this album highly enough. It is for anyone and everyone. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Michael Knott did a great job in putting together his album. The lyrics are filled with quirky characters and interesting situations, the singing is emotional at the right times but not over-the-top, and as always with Knott, the music is creative and skilfully performed. If you're looking for a lot of overt Christianity in the lyrics, however, you're not going to find it here. Still, an excellent CD.
