5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Project Pitchfork and Combichrist, you'll love Santa Hates You, January 23, 2010
This review is from: Rocket Heart (Audio CD)
Last week I was perusing my list of Myspace friends when I came across the German electro band Santa Hates You. I have to admit I had added that band a couple of years ago without checking them out so at the time I thought now was a great time to listen to their songs on their profile page. I just realized that Santa Hates You was another Project Pitchfork's Peter Spilles project with a female partner in crime named Jinxy (who contributes a track on Imatem's latest album Journey) so that alone I knew would be a great project. The first song I checked out by Santa Hates You was "Rocket Heart". I was immediately hooked. The harsh electro beats reminded me of both Combichrist and Project Pitchfork. That immediately made me download Rocket Heart EP. Rocket Heart consists of eight tracks, six of them are remixes of "Rocket Heart". For me, remixes are either a hit or miss but in this case, I totally dug all six remixes. The artists who remixed the song all kept the integrity of the song's melodies and beats but yet re-vamped them to the their own sound. My personal favorite remix is the one by Soman who gave "Rocket Heart" a trance sound. The other two tracks is an instrumental called "Bonus 1.O" and "Deutschmachine". Both songs are great. After checking out Rocket Heart EP, I definitely put the group's upcoming album on my wish list. I strongly recommend checking out Santa Hates You if you dig the harsh, abrasive beats of Project Pitchfork and Combichrist.
