"Get Down River" performed live, by the Bottle Rockets

“Before the Drive-By Truckers got in gear, when Ryan Adams was still settling in Whiskeytown, the Bottle Rockets were setting off musical M-80s as perhaps the most underappreciated roots-rock/Americana band of the mid-‘90s.” -REUTERS/HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

“If Uncle Tupelo is the Beatles of the alt-country movement, the Bottle Rockets are certainly the Rolling ... Read more in Amazon's Bottle Rockets Store

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MUSIC - BOTTLE ROCKETS LIVE May 23, 2006
Format:Audio CD
I've alway been a Bottle Rockets fan, since hearing Radar Gun on FM radio (imagine that) a long time ago. Have ALL their cd's! I really like Brian Henneman's songs; they're about everyday life's shortcomings & happiness, lost loves, working class people, Nancy Sinatra and $1000.00 cars. If you haven't heard the bottle rockets do yourself a favor and but this live cd it's FULL of some of their best stuff. LOVE the live version of Love Like A Truck. The new guy on guitar John Horton is a very gifted musician, I think him & Brian sound great together and the new bass Keith Voegele is a great addition also who adds very nice vocals. This is a tight band people who make it look almost effortless when you see them live.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bottle Rockets Live Rocks Germany November 10, 2006
Format:Audio CD
This live album is exceptionally well done in terms of recording quality and overall production. The music rocks right from the get go with Trailer Queen and continues through a litany of the Bottle Rockets most popular titles. The album never lets up and finishes well with Indianapolis among the last 3 cuts. The encore is as strong as the primary concert and overall the two CD set with a DVD is a great value. I strongly recommend this for current Bottle Rockets fans and if you are thinking about becoming a fan, this album will put you firmly in the legion of loyal Bottle Rockets fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST LIVE ALBUM OF THE LAST YEAR - HANDS DOWN May 24, 2006
Format:Audio CD
1) This is an amazing performance and a great recording.

2) This is the current smokin' lineup that may be comin' to your town (to help you party down).

3) You definitely get tons and tons of songs for your $.

4) As mentioned elsewhere, this is a perfect introduction to the band's material, in case you are not familiar with the back-catalog (shame on you!) and don't know where to start.

5) Cortez. The. Killer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey Hey, My My May 23, 2006
Format:Audio CD
The Bottle Rockets are America's most terminally underrated band. They've consistently released good to great albums with tremendous songwriting. They are the (commercially unnoticed) CCR of this generation.

This double CD set is loaded with great songs and excellent performances. The Neil Young covers are extraordinary ("Hey Hey, My My" is possibly the greatest rock anthem ever).

If you've never listened to the Bottle Rockets, this is a perfect introduction. Then, pick up "The Brooklyn Side." A treasure trove of great music awaits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal Breadth of Songs June 3, 2006
Format:Audio CD
Many times live CD's miss the mark, but this is really an outstanding mix of songs that catches the band firing on all cylinders. You can tell that they are thoroughly enjoying playing with each other and in this venue. You simply can't miss with this one. Be on the lookout for their new CD, Zoysia, it's another gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin' in Germany June 9, 2006
Format:Audio CD
This is an excellent live set by the Bottle Rockets. I've been playing this thing non-stop since I picked it up, and you should be doing the same thing! It's really well recorded and captures the band in excellent form. Plus, it was Brian Hennemans' birthday and the crowd sings Happy Birthday to him. How many times do you get to hear great alt-country AND happy, singing Germans, all in one place?

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! February 25, 2007
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I've been a fan since Brooklyn Side came out and the radio in Sante Fe was playing "1000 dollar car". It took me awhile to get a hold of this gem. This is a great live CD of some of their best work. The end of the show just rocks- two great covers of Neil Young "Hey Hey My My" and "Cortez the Killer" (over 12 minutes). They tease the audience early on with a bit of Cinnamon Girl at the end of "Love like a Truck" Throughout the show Brian and the boys are dead on the money and tight. You have to pick this up if your a fan-it's worth every cent. It's a heck of a birthday present.
