Pretty much, if you have a Genesis, you should definately pick this game up. It has great graphics (for the time of course) , has strong replay value and is just flat-out fun. In this game, you are a possum/cat/thing who has a sword and a Rocket pack. Those are like, two of the coolest things ever. It's an action-adventure platformer, and plays like kid chameleon mixed with strider. It's challenging, yet not frustrating, and is my 3rd favorite Genesis game. Plus, since the Genesis is cheaper now a days, it's worth buying one for. So if you don't have a Genesis, buy one and get this game(with Shinobi III and Sonic 3 too) and if you have a Genesis and don't have this game, I'd strongly reccomend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An underappreciated masterpiece, February 13, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Rocket Knight Adventures (Video Game)
Konami's Rocket Knight Adventures, though seemingly an obscure title these days, is one of the great classic Genesis titles, an utterly masterful combination of the side-scrolling action game and the platformer. The segments are all colorful and varied (an early one has you flying off in pursuit of an airship), the bosses challenging and yet surprisingly intuitive in how to beat them, and the controls tight and responsive. The game has a simple but engaging storyline which is developed entirely through active developments, as opposed to passive dialogue, and the music is catchy and fits the flow of the action perfectly.

The action itself is entirely skill-based. The player isn't swamped with upgrades and power-ups and crippled if he loses them, as in a Contra title; rather, all one needs to do to beat this game is fight intelligently: know when to back off, time one's attacks right, and adapt to the patterns of one's enemies. Although one can beat the first level's weak pig soldiers by just jumping into the fray automatically, such behavior will get one killed in later levels.

The best part of this game is its replayability factor. This game just doesn't get old. It is as fun the fiftieth time around as it is the first.

If you have a Genesis, buy it. If you don't own a Genesis, then get one and proceed to track down a copy of this game. If you like platformers or action games at all you will adore this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars This has become my favorite game of all time., February 2, 2011

This game is sooooo gooooood. Last year a game came out on Steam by the same name, and I downloaded the demo. I liked it pretty well. This past Christmas I got a Genesis so I could play some of my favorite games when I was a kid. And what was in it? ROCKET KNIGHT ADVENTURES. I though, "Wow. I guess the new one is a remake." And this game is sooooo gooooood. I played to Stage 5 without losing a single life, then my cat came in and decided it would be a riot to press reset. -_-

Anyways, I HIGHLY recommend this game to everyone who enjoys a revolutionary classic 2D platformer. It completely trumps any other game I played on the Genesis, and overtook some modern classics on my top games of all time. I just payed $30 to get the sequel Sparkster. It is the ONLY genesis game I would fork over that much cash for. GET THIS GAME.
