Dan Abnett is a great comic writer and brought the Guardians of the Galaxy back to life in the comic world with power and depth. His run on the title is, in my opinion, the best. He brought new characters to the forefront of the Marvel world and created stories that caused readers to anxiously await next month's release. The Brian Bendis stories are contemporary with the movie and thus probably more read, but they pale in comparison as regards character development, interaction, depth and fun. Dan Abnett continues this effort with his "prose" novel Rocket Raccoon and Groot. There is a ton of fun in this book. Comics are meant to be good, and fun. Dan Abnett is all about fun in this book, but with strong writing and intelligence. If you are looking for a book that takes itself very seriously, this is not it. Don't get me wrong, Dan Abnett is a serious writer, but he allows us to walk with him in an imaginary, fun world and it is a blast.

Easily one of the most engaging and funny books I have read in a while. Abnett's Triumff came to mind many time throughout the book in line with Rocket's Sarcasm. Overall I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Dan Abnett or Rocket and Groot.

This is a wonderful story. Our family absolutely fell in love with The Guardians of the Galaxy movie, in particular, Groot. Dan Abnett wrote our favorite book of the year, Rocket and Groot: Steal the Galaxy. We read it aloud together, enjoying all the fun and frivolity. Loving every word, and anticipating the delight each new page would give us. We truly hope there is a second book, then a third, fourth, fifth, etc., from Dan Abnett and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

This was a great book. I loved Rocket and Groot since seeing the movie. They have to be the best odd couple since Filix and Oscar, Laurel and Hardy, and Abbot and Costello. The perfect team. Gammora and the recorder weren't bad either. This book was very funny through the whole story. It reminded me of a Douglas Adams book. I hope they do more adventures of Rocket andGroot in prose form again.

This was a nice read! At first I thought that it was a little hard to get into. I was annoyed with the constant use of, "gentle reader," "loyal reader," etc. and "disconcertingly human-like hand." But once I was introduced to the narrator, and understood what he was, the narration style made much more sense and I was hooked. Typical marvel style, there were lots of funny lines and parts. For example, the last line in one chapter was "'What the -tik!- flark is going on up there?' Gruntgrill asks," and the title of the next chapter was "This Is What The -Tik- Flark Is Going On Up There," LOVE IT

I loved this book and how it balanced out the silly with the serious, the absurd and the pic. I love Dan Abnett's work in the Warhammer universe, but he did a great job here as well. The characters were spot on. The only warning I'd have for readers is that this book does not take place in the movie universe; it is an adjunct to the comic books, so there are some small differences.

Even so, it's a great book.

While I enjoy to read, lately I find myself just reading stuff online, like fanfiction or amateur stories. Books often lack the stories I'm looking for, but this one left me pleasantly surprised. As a fan of Rocket Raccoon, this gave me my fill of fuzzy mercenary adventures. Absolutely recommended to whoever is both a fan of Marvel and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as it shares the kind of humor of the latter.
