Product Description

Whoopie World, the ultimate amusement park, is set to open tomorrow and, wouldn't you know it, the distraught second-in-command, Jojo the Raccoon, has gone nuts, smashing rides and scattering admission tickets everywhere. Enter park maintenance robot Rocket, hastily assigned to repair the rides and collect the tickets.

This 3-D platform adventure game is easily one of the most atypical Nintendo 64 titles to come along in quite a while--as evidenced by the premise--and could very well join the ranks of Banjo-Kazooie and Mario 64 for its beautiful cartoon style and massive game world.

As Rocket--half unicycle, half armless, uh, contraption--players navigate through the seven game worlds using the robot's powerful tractor beam in place of arms to grab and lift items, battle enemies, solve a grand variety of puzzles, and hang and swing from handles. The signature Fun-Physics game engine incorporates real-world character and environmental physics--Rocket realistically sways as he wheels along, and one can virtually "feel" the weight of objects lifted with the tractor beam. It's a whole new--and wacky--world for gamers, and a very welcomed one at that. --Eric Twelker

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocket Rocks, December 23, 1999

Rocket is a great puzzle game. I've played it all the way through and I had fun all the way. Unlike many other games, the puzzles all had very satisfying solutions. Almost every time I got stuck, I could sit back, give it some thought and have an "aha" moment where the solution became clear.

I also liked the fact that there are not too many puzzles that just rely on gamepad dexterity. Since it's easy to make things arbitrarily hard, I really appreciated the careful game design.

Finally, some of the levels are just beautiful. I spent at least a couple of hours flying around just for fun.

If you liked Mario and Banjo Kazooie, get Rocket. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocket: Robot on Wheels, December 20, 1999

I picked up Rocket thinking that it was just one of very few available games that are non-violent for my children. After logging about 8 hours of my own time "making sure is was appropriate material for kids" I discovered that it is a sophisticated and completely engaging game. The graphics are amazing and the physics program makes the game world very realistic. The game requires some real problem solving efforts and rewards you by opening up additional worlds as you collect items and add Rocket abilities. It is certainly the best game I have seen available through Nintendo and I look forward to my next 20-30 hours before I give up the controls to my kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars A note from the creators, November 19, 1999

Here at Sucker Punch Productions, we had a fantastic time creating this game!

In the tradition of Banjo-Kazooie and Mario 64, Rocket's adventure takes him through a series of fantastic locations and challenges. We didn't skimp on the worlds either -- they're huge and beautiful.

On top of that we've created 7 exciting vehicles, like the hot-dog-dune-buggy "DuneDog" and the paint-ball-firing-hovercraft "HoverSplat". Rocket gets to ride them all in his quest to defeat JoJo the Raccoon.

The game engine features our proprietary "fun-physics" engine which simply means Rocket, the vehicles, and all the objects in the world seem incredibly life like! It's something you have to see to believe.

But don't just take our word for it. In addition to the reviews here, Rocket has been receiving raves in print and online. Check out the November issue of Nintendo Power, where Rocket: Robot on Wheels was the top rated game!
