Fun with a 40s flavor, July 14, 2009
This review is from: The Rocketeer: Cliff's New York Adventure (Paperback)
It's great to see this 1980s adventure series collected and made available. This time, The Rocketeer (Clifford) and his sidekick (Goose) are crawling the underbelly of New York City, trying to find his one-time girl Betty. Whether she knows it or not, she's about to make a terrible mistake. Then, a mysterious stranger arrives with an offer too lucrative for down-and-out Cliff to turn down. But a mysterious killer is murdering former members of the carnival that Cliff used to belong to, and the bizarre means of the murders points to only one man ...
Manly adventure (with aircraft, even better), characters barely over the top, chaste romance, with workable scripting and art. It has everything you look for in a comic, except maybe something to set it apart from the crowd.

PS:
The Rocketeer was made into an amusing flick in the 90s. Worth seeing, not worth busting yourself to see.
