Cool name, crappy product., June 4, 2009
This review is from: Digital Wireless Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
The most common complaint with these headphones, which are: Rocketfish RF-WHP02, by the way, is that the strap in the middle sits on the users head and causes the cushions to pull up on the ears uncomfortably. Well, I guess my head is small, because I did not experience this. The strap was a little uncomfortable on top of my head, though. Just a little. It's possible they would have become uncomfortable if I had kept them on for any length of time, but I didn't see any reason to walk around with broken headphones on my head.
That's right. They showed up at the door. I read the manual (imagine that), charged them overnight. Brought them in to work and plugged them in. The base station would not connect with the headphones. The green "connect" lights are supposed to go solid. Blinking indicates that it is not connected. I listened too, just in case it was working, but nothing. I tried every combination of button presses I could think of before calling the company. The support was good, in that they answered the phone with a real human in a reasonable amount of time (I called Thursday at ~10:00am). But after talking to support it was clear that I was "connecting" them properly. The only corrective action was to try them with a different device. Maybe I'm premature in posting this review since I have not done this yet, but I don't think that is important since 1. The problem is between the base and the headset, not between the unit and my source and 2. This location is the only place I wish to use the headphones. If it doesn't work here, then they are as good as dead.
One piece of useful information to prospective buyers of units that actually work, is that the headphones do not block out ambient sound at all. I'm sure there is some sound blocked, but it was very minimal. This was fine for me since, at work, I want to be able to hear ambient sound. But if you are looking for a more isolating environment where outside sounds are blocked while only the music is heard, then these are not for you.
Oh something else that wasn't clear to me from the desciption. The included microphone is used by NOT plugging the headphones into the source (TV for instance) but rather connecting the microphone and placing it near the source. So the headphones act almost like a hearing aid. You cannot use them like a gaming headset or something.
Also, other advantages of the WHP-02's versus the WHP-01's is that they claim nearly twice the battery life of the 01's and the little cable adapter to go from a headphone out (like on a computer) is included with the 02's. From the manual, it seemed like it was not included with the 01's. So if you want to plug them into a computer while you are at work all day, and you are still interested in buying them after this review, you would probably prefer the 02's. Plus the 02's have better range.
These headphones were very disappointing. I was really looking forward to hearing music at work in my cube farm environment. Now I will probably have to send them back at my expense and wait even longer. It's really hard not to curse in this reveiw. It seems that lately I have been getting a high failure rate on chinese made products (not just the cheap stuff either). It's really getting old.

Great Headphones!!! The price makes it better!!, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Digital Wireless Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
If you are looking for a good pair of wireless headphones for a low price, these are it! The sound is awesome and after a while it seems as though you are not even wearing them. I can watch TV or play a game while my daughter sleeps and not give up sound quality. I had to take them off a couple of times to make sure my surround sound was not still on, that's how good the sound is. My old headphones buzzed the entire time, a low buzzing but I am incredibly picky so I couldn't stand it after a while. Even when there is a quiet scene or silence, no buzzing or feedback!!
A lot of the online reviews will say they are uncomfortable, but they only get as uncomfortable as any headphones do after a while of wearing them. They are a bit bulky, but sound quality makes up for the dorky look of them. I guess I can see how they would be uncomfortable for someone with a large head though. I have an average size head (Anytime I get a hat I get a medium size, or regular). So as long as you don't have to buy a large or extra large hat, you should be fine.
The charger is a great addition. My last headphones needed batteries and let me tell you, it was irritating to constantly change the batteries on either the headphones or the base, so this freedom is definitely a positive. Some of the reviews I read said it was hard to get them in the charger, mine fall right into place and begin to charge, no problem at all, so I would figure user error on their part.
So if you want a good set of wireless headphones but don't want to pay $70+ for them, these are it.

Pleasing to my ears AND wallet, May 20, 2010
This review is from: Digital Wireless Stereo Headphones (Electronics)
This is my first time buying a not new item (not including games or cars), so I was a little worried. No more though, because these bad boys work GREAT!! As if new, and it came looking brand new (even with those sticky plastic things that come on brand new stuff that most ppl wait to take off, haha). Anyways here's my review:
GOOD:
-SOUND quality is GREAT!! I didn't even know there was two types of headsets like these, and the one I got is the latest one WHP02. The differences are that on the WHP02 you can control volume on the actually earphones, and it has an additional option for surround sound and clear voice. I'm not sure how the WHP01 sounds, but mine sound INCREDIBLE!!! Literally sound sound on my ears, I love it.
-SET UP is VERY EASY. Instructions are only a few pages long, b/c that's all you need. You just plug it in and there ya go!!
-CONNECTION is stable and I never hear static or fading. I even walked to the kitchen from my bedroom (not toooo far, but still) and nothing changed. I could hear everything clear as day.
-PRICE that you just can't beat!! I looked for HOURS for good headphones at a decent price. I didn't want to spend $75 - $150 on headphones. I can't believe I got these for this much!! But I'm glad I did. They may not have been brand spanking new, but I can't tell the difference. No scuffs, scratches, and the quality of the product is outstanding (ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE, WOW!!).
BAD:
-SOUND quality is incredible, but not perfect. I watched Batman: The Dark Knight and everything sounded EXCELLENT until it came to the fighting scenes. Whenever he hit a guy or something the punches sounded muffled. Other than that everything was better than expected. I can get over it.
-COMFORT is a little weird. If you have big ears, definitely stay away. These barely fit over my ears (luckily, so i don't have to return them). It fits on mine and my girlfriends head pretty good, but the ears can be a downfall.
I got these b/c I work the night shift, and on my days off I stay up and watch movies and play games. I hated if my girlfriend would wake up by accident or something b/c of me so I looked for some wireless headphones. These bad boys get the job done!! The room is silent, and yet I feel like I'm in a movie theater!! We're both loving it, and I highly recommend this product. For the price YOU CAN'T BEAT IT!!!
