5.0 out of 5 stars Volume Issue Solved, February 5, 2010

I've seen a number of negative reviews regarding volume on the RF-WS01. Mine arrived two days ago and I was very disappointed at first. So much so that I decided to sell them on eBay, with a notation about the lack of volume. To create a nice photo I hooked up the wireless sender to an MP3 player, and practically damaged my ear-drums. Here's what I learned: The Volume On The Music Source MUST Be Turned Up To Maximum, and then adjust the volume on the speakers.

I plan on keeping the speakers. They're very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good wireless speakers, July 24, 2009
This review is from: Rocketfish RF-WS01 (Electronics)
I bought these Rocketfish RF-WS01 wireless stereo speakers after having a bad experience with:

Acoustic Research AW877 900 Mhz Indoor Wireless Speakers

These Rocketfish RF-WS01 speakers are good and they outperformed the Accosutic Research speakers. They have a good signal and generate little or no static. The sound quality is good but not excellent. I wish it can produce a greater frequency range, especially in the low range. Additionally, the Rocketfish RF-WS01 speakers are cheaper. The only bad things about Rocketfish RF-WS01 speakers are #1) the low volume and #2) they don't have a remote control. However, it is still a great product, especially for their price and the current state of the wireless technology.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Elderly with Clear Audio, November 11, 2010
By
This review is from: Rocketfish RF-WS01 (Electronics)
These Rocketfish Digital Wireless speakers are an excellent solution for those looking to add speakers without wires and without a home theatre system. I picked these up for a couple of 80 year olds and they are extremely pleased. They each place one speaker next to their chair so each has independent control of the volume. These are controlled separately from a TV's audio and each speaker has its own volume knob.

Functionality wise these are very easy to setup. There is a wireless router you place near the audio source that has an input for a 3.5mm audio jack and also the RCA audio (the red and white plugs). All 3 items do need to be plugged in, so you need an outlet by each. (The speakers themselves can run on batteries, but from what I hear that is not a good idea due to extremely poor battery life). Once turned on, mine were already linked and ready to go. If they become unlinked, there is a simple pairing procedure via a button on the router and each speaker.

The appearance of these is alright. The speakers are much bigger than I was expecting, but look good as they are a glossy/piano black. The router is a small and round device that kind of looks like a 3-d mouse if you know what that is. It can be hidden behind items though as these run on 2.4, not IR. A good looking product, just be aware the speakers are a bit larger than you may expect (think 64 oz carton of orange juice size).

The sound quality is very clear with enhanced treble. Voices are clear, which is what I was hoping for with these being for an elderly couple. I would not recommend using these in a surround sound or home theatre system as they lack the range one would desire for that application. To "just hear" the audio though, whether from a TV or an MP3 player, these are very good. The sound level can also be turned quite high, outputting good volume. Being wireless I expected dropouts, but one would not even know these are wireless as not one hiccup has been noticed - another big plus.

Overall I can highly recommend these for the applications I mentioned. The price is a bit high in my opinion, but these are the only speakers of this type I could find, so they are worth it.
