After getting tired of my Mighty Mouse Wireless (Apple's wireless laser mouse) not getting along with traditional mouse pads and working "so-so" on my bare desktop surface, I did some reading and found the Rocketfish gaming mouse pad that was getting great reviews as a laser mouse pad. The reviews didn't really prepare me for two things about this mouse pad. The first is the size: It's huge! Sorry, I don't have the dimensions with me but it's easily twice the size of a "traditional" mouse pad. The second is that it's actually anodized aluminum so it's very rigid. This mouse pad is two sided, one for speed and one for control although a quick check of each side revealed little difference for me. I'll be trying the control side in the near future as I have photo's to edit. The pad has four "feet" to keep in place and you'll find them on either side but they are unobtrusive and infrequently I find them in the way of the Mighty Mouse's ability to "click".

Once I was past those two things (size and material), it was a match made in heaven. I have enough desk space to use the pad and the red aluminum edges don't bother me at all. The way the mouse works is the critical element though - that's why I bought it in the first place. it's like a new mouse it works so well.

Yes, a $20 mouse pad seems to be a bit much but when the mouse runs 3x that amount, it's a good investment in ensuring it works properly. I would recommend this mouse pad to anyone looking for a larger, more durable surface to run their optical mouse over.

GREAT FOR DAILY USE: The pad's "Control" surface, which is the surface I predominantly use, feels perfect for my daily use. It's got just the right amount of friction. I mostly use my mouse + mouse pad for web browsing and other ordinary activities, but also like to play a few PC games (especially now with this wonderful mouse pad !)

GREAT MATERIAL: The material they used on this pad was meant for mousing. It's a very different feel from the usual rubber mouse pad, which feels like an obstacle course, compared to the "anodized aluminum" material on this pad, which feels like the autobahn and is a pleasure to use. My mouse just cruises along on this pad.

RUBBER FEET: One great feature is the rubber feet, which keep the pad firmly in place, make it feel very sturdy, and prevent slippage which can be annoying and is experienced with cheaper pads.

EASY TO CLEAN: Another thing that helps is that this pad is quite easy to clean. When I switch surfaces (Control -> Speed or vice-versa), I find it easy to dust off the surface that was previously on the bottom side. Much easier to clean than cheaper pads.

EXTRA SPACE: It's great to have the extra space/real estate so I never run out of room when using the pad. This can come in handy when playing games in which you're constantly selecting objects all over the screen. A word of caution: Because of the size of this mouse pad (easily twice the surface area of regular mouse pads), which is a great feature, make sure you have enough room on your desk to accommodate it.

ABOUT MY SYSTEM: This is my first ever specialty / gaming mouse pad. I use this pad with the Logitech G500 Laser gaming mouse and the Logitech G510 gaming keyboard. My mouse and this mouse pad were a match made in heaven !

For the money, this is a good pad. I works great with my Logitech G500. When you have a mouse with Teflon pads, then the speed side is extremely low friction. The size of the pad is great for gaming. Very durable construction. I would not pay much more than $20.00 as Razer probably builds better products if you want to spend even more. The list retail seems high.

I purchased this pad when I saw it at Microcenter. I have owned this pad for three years, and it has stood up extremely well.

Before I purchased this pad, I would usually wear out a mousepad every six months or so.

Here is why this mousepad is so great: It is made of metal and has a rubber surface - the surface feels like slightly textured rubber on one side and very smooth rubber on the other. I have used this pad daily and have zero complaints.

The only minor issue I have encountered over three years: the pads recently started to come off, so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some more - an incredibly easy fix.

The mousepad is extremely durable, has two usable sides, one for slow movement, one for fast. It is designed for high-resolution mice and has worked with both my Microsoft and Logitech laser mice without a hitch, in fact better than any other mousepad I've owned.

I tend to run my mice at their max dpi (2000-4000) on either side. The "slow" side makes sniping in video games much easier by allowing you to make small movements quickly. The "fast" side makes moving my mouse across 1920x1080 screens rapid and effortless. If you purchase a good mouse with adjustable settings, you can find what speed works best for whatever game or task you are facing. I have used this with wired mice (preferable for gaming) and wireless mice.

As long as you treat this pad well (don't purposefully scratch it with scissors or something pointy), it should last you for years.

My plan is to keep the mousepad forever, and when it finally looks too beaten up (it still looks brand new, three years later, after extremely heavy use), I'll find replacement covering material and continue to use the pad.
