Rockets != Acadie?,

This review is from: Rockets (MP3 Download)
great music, but.... this isn't Rockets, it's Acadie. I think Amazon MP3 downloads may be a little buggy.

"rockets," Lanois in an intimate performance,
This review is from: Rockets (Audio CD)
"rockets" is a definitive addition to any audiophile's collection. Daniel Lanois creates intimate and spontaneous moods through "live studio and alternative takes." One listen to the live performance of "jj leaves la" convinced me to make the purchase. "sweet soul honey" and "rockets" evince some edgier electric guitar riffs by Lanois. These songs interestingly balance out the subtler acoustic works on the cd.
I've been amazed by Lanois' talent ever since I heard "SILVER MORNING" on Brian Eno's "Apollo" in 1983. I'm glad he's received the recognition that he so well deserves...do yourself a favor, get "rockets"!!!

another quality work from a master,

Yet another quality work by Daniel Lanois. Really a series of reworked prior releases (so the 'new' factor may underwhelm) but the quality of his work is there as always.

Great Listening from Lanois,
By Lon B (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rockets (Audio CD)
Rockets represents alternative cuts to several of Daniel Lanois' well-known works and a couple of new ones (see track listing and description elsewhere). All are live performances or have very live performance sonics - the production has T.Bone Burnett/Ry Cooder sensibilities, as does most of Daniel Lanois' recordings - great LF reproduction and a "you are there" sense when played through a good sound system. The production quality is high, meaning that the cuts are represented on the CD with realistic dynamics and great sound. Also, for Lanois fans, this CD is a honey: intimate as ever with alt takes to familiar favorites. You'll really get a kick out of this recording, especially if you're a fan of Lanois' pedal steel guitar music. Highly recommended.

i have always liked daniel lanois's music and this cd really captures a little of everything he's about. as you probably know he's also a great audio engineer and producer and someone that keeps me inspired as a project studio owner and musician. i would love to have him record me. a fantasy i know but, what is life without dreams and goals?... anyway this is a good cd and will hold up for many years to come. -rich lodato 03/29/2009
