5.0 out of 5 stars Rockferry Plus
Fantastic release.

The girl has amazing skill and vocal presentation. Yes , it is very reflective of 60's style soul , and Amy Winehouse-ish , both strong points for a great record.
Not a clunker in the bunch. Do yourself a favor and buy this.

This was pretty good but not what I expected. Wish I had gotten her original debut album. May at some later date.

4.0 out of 5 stars Near Brilliance, February 9, 2009
This is almost a perfect set, except for the missing tracks, Put It In Perspective (Warwick Ave b-side), Loving You (Warwick Ave 7" b-side), Smoke Without a Fire (Rain On Your Parade b-side) and Big Flame (Stepping Stone b-side). I have no clue why they left those off since they are the harder to get, but oh well. Since all of these have been attainable in the UK, maybe we will get another single for the next album with those on it. Either way, this is pretty damn good. LOVE HER!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great B-sides, but many still missing..., March 15, 2009
By
Despite the fact that there are some great B-Sides on this here Deluxe Edition of "Rockferry", there are many still to be put onto some sort of compilation. Some of those songs, if you care to find them include, but are not limited to the following:

"Put It In Perspective"
"Loving You"
"Smoke Without A Fire"
"Big Flame"
"Frame Me"
"Tomorrow"
"Save It For Your Prayers" (available on the 7" single for "Rockferry")
"I Wish I Was A Single Girl Again"
"These Arms of Mine"
"People Don't Know" (recorded a few years back in Sweden with Soulego)
"Cry To Me"
"The Loneliness I Hide"
"I Melt"

You can actually find all of these songs on YouTube and listen to them if you're interested. But don't expect to see them on record any time soon--but we can hope :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Even More Duffy!, July 18, 2009
OK, I am the one those people who heard the song "Mercy" and then decided to buy this CD. But let's face it: It is a great song! I was quite surprised that this album was actually a soul album because "Mercy" is actually quite poppy. I liked the album so much that I decided to buy this deluxe edition later. There's the original album plus seven bonus tracks on the separate bonus disc.

This album really is a perfect soul album! Duffy is a great singer! She has a beautiful voice. The opening track "Rockferry" is quite a peaceful track like almost every song on this album. Although I like more of the artists like Megadeth, Budgie, and Led Zeppelin, I can assure that even guy like me likes these kind of touching songs. In fact, right now, one of my favorite songs is "Warwick Avenue". It feels like every single track on this album is a masterfiece. Duffy's voice sounds a little bit different from other soul vocalists but that only makes her original.

The deluxe edition is a must for every Duffy fan. I loved the song "Rain on Your Parade" immediately! It's definetely the best track on the bonus CD. All the other songs are great too but it and "Enough Love" are the best ones. I think it was a great idea to make two separate discs. I can listen to the original album whenever I want without touching to the bonus tracks or listen to just the bonus tracks. The original album is less than 40 minutes and the bonus CD is less than 25 minutes. They would have fit on the same CD but they didn't put them to the same disc. That's great!

Stars: Warwick Avenue, Mercy, Delayed Devotion

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of good stuff here in addition to Mercy, February 16, 2009

There are lots of good songs here, but most of them are not nearly as "fierce" or fast-paced as Mercy. The style of these is very 60's soul-ish and is sometimes referred to as "blue-eyed soul" because the singers are White. The songs are very pleasant and easy to listen to (lots of violins, beautiful singing). I think that the last song on the first disk (Distant Dreamer) deserves more attention. Don't pay any attention to reviewers who say Mercy is the only decent song here, unless you really don't like slower songs. In that case you might want to listen to Rockferry and a few other songs on here before buying.

This is the best Duffy album in my opinion. And what could be better than shopping and receiving my merchandise without ever leaving my house?

I first saw Duffy on Austin City Lights in concert, so I ordered this CD (which contains 2 CD's). I was not disappointed - every song on this albumn is great. What a wonderful singer she is. I highly recommend it. I am now a certified fan of Duffy!
