Good resource,

A good resource. But, be sure to get the current version, both of the last two editions are still in print. We used this for a long rockhounding trip and were quite satisfied. As rockhounders know, many rockhounding books simply recycle well known sites and don't add much, if any, value. This book is worth a read.

If you are a rockhound and looking for your specimens in MT. This is a great reference. It is also an attractive choice for someone who is looking to come to MT to look at our incredible geologic history. Very helpful. I am a native and appreciate the "rules of etiquette for rockhounds." I would recommend this book anytime.

This book has traveled thousands of miles with me and helped me to locate and collect a lot of rough. It is a most usefull book to say the least. When I was in the author's home town, I would have gladly shook his hand.
If you are going to MT and want to find minerals, buy this book. |
