5.0 out of 5 stars Love this CD

Back in the day (as our youth like to say) I owned a copy of this on vinyl. It was the 1979 album simply titled Jerry Lee Lewis. I had been trying to find a copy of it on CD for three or four years. They have added about six extra songs to this version which make it even better. There are some real rockin' cuts on this CD. It shipped from England, and took quite a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, but not anything spectacular
As an avid JLL fan I've always liked listening to his music. Be it Rock and Roll or his country stuff it's always a good listen. This CD is good, but should not be compared to his early recordings. A couple of really good tunes here. This compilation is 2 records on one CD. If you're a big fan you should own this; if you're a casual fan you should listen to his...

This is a great album! Actually, it is 2 albums, but I just wanted the first, which was titled "Jerry Lee Lewis" when it was released in '79. I love the James Burton guitar work! Jerry Lee deserves a top-notch band, and he has it on this record. I'd like to know why this album has to be released as an import with a photo from Jerry in his 20's, even though he was 45 when he made the record?

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Miss This Rockin Jerry Lee Lewis Collection!, September 17, 2009

Jerry Lee Lewis was and is the greatest honky-tonkin rockin-rollin piano rock icon that ever lived. If there ever was a Mount Rushmore for the founding fathers of Rock, Jerry would take his rightful place next to Lttle Richard, Elvis Presley, and Chuck Berry. This collection captures Lewis's best material from the 1980's. It is basically a two album collection of some of the funkiest rockabilly that Jerry has ever waxed. I can't say enough about the cuts on this cd. The cd starts of with the uptempo "Don't Let Go", and from there, it just gets better and better. Songs like "Rita May", "You've Got Personality", "I Like It Like That", "Rockin little Angel", and the explosive "Rockin My Life away", in which Lewis proclaims and belts out "My name is Jerry Lee Lewis and I'm darn sure here to stay". His take on Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", is without question the best cover of that song That I have ever heard. it totally rocks, and will get anyone off their seats. This cd also has it's share of quality ballads, like "I Wish I Was Eighteen Again", and "Over The Rainbow", complete with phenominal piano and typical Jerry Lee Lewis ad-lib phrasing. If you are a fan of Jerry, and missed this cd, please,by all means, pick this up, because you will never regret it. "Rockin My Life Away", is a fabulous effort not to be missed!
