Book Description

June 2005
Robin Sessoms spends her weeks working forty-plus hours as the head reservation clerk at the Gray Pearl, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Her boss is Todd Kendricks, an undercover drug addict who is still sleeping with his drug-addicted ex-wife, the mother of his first son. He's also involved with Chanel, a friend of Robin's who is the mother of Todd's second son.

Todd's life might be scandalous, but Robin has some shadows of her own to deal with. She seeks the help of a therapist, Dr. Christopher, who she visits twice a week when she decides something inside of her just isn't quite right. What she doesn't know is that she's been living with a dual personality since childhood, when her father severely abused her and her mother. Rockin' Robin, her alternate personality, is lurking just below the surface, waiting to emerge.

When Nelson Bray, a powerful retired lawyer, checks into the Gray Pearl, Robin's world is turned upside down. He is definitely not the type of man she would be attracted to, but Rockin' Robin finds him irresistible. The pair begin a relationship that threatens to overpower Robin's personality and allow Rockin' Robin to take over permanently. The question is, did Nelson know from the start about Robin's dual personalities, and had he planned all along to bring out Rockin' Robin and use her for his own shady plans?

4.0 out of 5 stars Mix love and lust with revenge. Bake at 450, July 25, 2005
This review is from: Rockin Robin (Paperback)
I liked it, an enjoyable read, moving fast and piercing the point, like her first book, She's Got Issues. Rockin Robin is a psychotic mix of relations, betrayal, and vengeance (my favorite).

I love an empowered antiheroine! Robin is a trapped, submissive girl turned into a take charge, guns ablaze woman, doing what she feels, when she feels it, with no job or man holding her back. I won't give away the conflict with Jiles, but I will say it smokes.

Whoa! Rockin Robin explores dark issues of abuse, tempered by unconditional love, lust, and lots of action. Odd as it may seem, imagine an urban version of The Color Purple, but this time Celie (Whoopi) is a Jackie Brown with guns.

This review is from: Rockin Robin (Paperback)
I haven't had a chance to read my girls' first book " She's Got Issues", but thats next." Rockin Robin" was a definite page turner. The day I purchased it I called Stephanie. I read the book within 4hrs and I would have finished sooner but I was at work...

I give this book 2 thumbs up, and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Keep up the Good Work......

4.0 out of 5 stars All I'm sayin is Dayum!!, August 5, 2005
This review is from: Rockin Robin (Paperback)
You know in this day and age, abuse is more than swept under the carpet. It's buried with our ancestors.

Stephanie Johnson, yes she paints a vivid and grotesque picture of abuse, however she also puts on the forefront the after effects of such victims.

Rockin Robin is a victim of abuse; all verbally, physically and sexually. She is forced to take on and live out other dimensions of her person that allows her to survive. While it was foul in it's delivery, Rockin Robin puts what we shoo away on a silver platter. I recommend this book to ANYONE who has been a victim and anyone who has victimized. I know a lot of you will not be happy with that statement but it is what it is.
