5.0 out of 5 stars Easy-to-follow, great, gentle work-out
A terrific way to tune into your new baby, this tape is a combination work-out, relaxation and meditation without a lot of new age incense-burning. The work-out is complete without being exhausting and after finishing, you feel energized and calm. Rocki is a wonderful teacher and goes through each pose slowly enough to be able to follow easily. The women are real-looking...

2.0 out of 5 stars More frustration than relaxation
If you have never taken yoga before, this is not the video for you. When I found out I was pregnant, I wanted to find an exercise program that I could work around my schedule, and a yoga video seemed to be the perfect fit. However, I found that this video did not give me enough warm up time, nor were the positions explained enough for my non-experienced need. The video...

The women are real-looking pregnant women, not stick-figure models, which is certainly nicer to look at when you're pregnant. I loved the section when you focus on your baby - talk about early bonding!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Pregnancy Yoga Tape I've Found, October 1, 2003

I have five pregnancy yoga tapes, and this is my favorite. It mixes some traditional yoga poses in with some especially designed for pregnancy. It contains kegel exercises, and some pilates-style leg lifts.
The first 1/2 of the tape is floorwork/poses (downward dog, squats, leg lifts), and then it moves on to standing work (tree pose, spinal twists, more squats). The video ends with some stretching and relaxation.
Rocki has a very calming voice, and doesn't talk too much during the workout. Not only will you feel more energized after this video, but you will feel like you got a workout in too. You will get a little cardio benefit from it, as well as stretching and relaxation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!, July 23, 2004

I did this workout throughout my whole pregnancy and I'm totally convinced that's why I bounced back so quickly. It kept me in shape (well, you know what I mean-everything's relative when you're hugely pregnant)and kept me feeling great while I was pregnant. My husband could tell the days I didn't work out because I didn't have the same energy as when I did yoga.

The sequences are thorough-kind of easy when you're barely pregnant and tough when you're full term. The stretching and breathing alone is worth its weight in gold for me. I love the meditation Rocki does, too. It's nice but not too "new agey" for me.

Best of all for me, I just had my baby 3 weeks ago and went back to doing this tape a few days ago-and felt good. I hope Rocki puts out a postnatal workout-I bet it would be great. I did her Labor Prep tapes and we loved them. They really helped my husband and I work together when I was in labor.

This workout is terrific and I really recommend it. Fit Pregnancy and LA Magazine say it's the best prenatal yoga class, so I'm in good company. I couldn't have gotten through my pregnancy without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow -- changed my mind from one pregnancy to the next, August 17, 2004

I did the VHS version of this tape with my 1st pregnancy and didn't get into it. Don't know why, just didn't click with me (yes, the production values are simple, clean and basic, the room they work out in is not high glamour or anything, just a working yoga/mat room) -- so I didn't bother doing more than a couple of time. I guess I wanted something more slick and Hollywood and filled with model-like women and tons of advice on how to alter this if, shift this if, etc.

What a difference 19 months make! I am on my 2nd baby and LOVE THIS. Now that I know my pregnant body better, know what is to come, and what my body will really need during labour and with the baby after the birth, I now know that Rocki's is the best routine out there (I wrote a previous review for Shiva Rea's, which is still one of the best, but for me and this pregnancy Rocki is now my guru!)

Rocki is practical and knowlegable with just enough of spirited focus not to turn you off in either direction whether you are spiritual or not. She DOES give instructions for different levels -- just because the models are all in late stage, doesn't mean that women who have smaller belly bumps are ignored.

And there are everyday women going through all the exercises, probably real clients -- not currently pregnant dancers and acrobats who can do whatever is required without modification. Each of Rocki's models are your average pregnant woman, whom you'd see on the street with stretch marks, linea nigra, they have put on those extra pounds.... basically, they are just like me -- and probably just like you.

I think most women will benefit enormously from this routine.

Finally, a prenatal yoga video I can recommend to my students! This video is safe and energizing and respectful of the pregnant woman's body and baby. The expectant mother is in good hands and company with Rocki's solid and soothing instruction guiding them through their pregnancy. This is a video that makes the prenatal body feel good. Well done!

This was an amazing video. I found just what I wanted in a yoga workout with the added responsibility of pregnancy-gentleness and kindness to my own changing body and to my baby. I appreciated Rocki's emphasis on listening to your body so that you feel great pregnant, not limited by it. I feel energized and peaceful after the workout. Rocki excudes a confidence and reasurance which comes through to the participant. I really recommend this video. It's fun, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for ALL levels and stages, December 13, 2002

I had just started taking yoga classes when I found out I was pregnant. After a month or two, I found that "normal" yoga classes were not comfortable anymore, and I could not find a good prenatal yoga class. I tried this tape & love it. Rocki's routine is just challenging enough for me, but she gives suggestions on almost every pose on how to make it more or less challenging. It truly is a routine for every level. And for every stage--I am now in my sixth month, but the girls in the video are about ready to pop! She does a lot of Kegels, and a little bit of calisthenics, and every exercise & pose is great for easing symptoms of pregnancy or for getting ready for labor. It has SO helped with my lower back pain. I really appreciate the short meditations that she does at the start & end of her routine also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best prenatal yoga I've done!, March 28, 2004
This review is from: Rocki's Prenatal Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I don't know what tape the previous reviewer was watching, but it wasn't this one. Rocki gives lots of different suggestions for different trimesters. I know - I've been doing this for 5 months now. If your knees bother you, she offers ways to help so they don't hurt and most importantly, the models DON'T LAY ON THEIR BACKS. They're on their sides!

Enough of the rebuttal. I love this tape. At first it wasn't difficult for me, but as I've gotten bigger and bulkier there are days when it's a challenge for me. I ALWAYS feel great when I'm done with the tape, though. Rocki clearly knows what she's doing and her poses and stretches make my body feel great. Even my husband notices a difference in me when I've worked out to it and when I haven't! I love the meditation and especially the imagery she talks about. It's relaxing but not too new age spacey for me.

I highly recommend this tape to anyone who's expecting.

5.0 out of 5 stars great session, October 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Rocki's Prenatal Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been doing yoga once a week in a class for almost 2 years and I am now 19 weeks pregnant so I wanted to continue yoga in a safe way. After reading through all the reviews on the various yoga videos and dvds, I decided to try this one since it got rave reviews. I am quite happy with the purchase--Rocki is a great instructor--not too touchy feeling nor too much blabbing. She has a soothing voice and the movements flow (not too much stalling). There are plenty of kegels, so this is a good time to get those in. The workout is sufficient and there are a number of pregnant women to see how you compare. The only thing that I would like better is that it were in a dvd format.

I love this tape! I've been doing it since my first trimester and I always feel better the days I work out with it. The breathing makes me feel good and I especially loved the meditation at the end. The teacher explains the poses well and even offers different ways to do them, depending on how far along you are. I don't know what I'd do without it !
