Very useful set, with a couple of tweaks,
This review is from: Rockler JIG IT Shelving Jig and 1/4'' Bit Set (Misc.)
I recently used this shelf pin jig to put adjustable shelves into a cupboard I built for a customer out of birch plywood. It works very well, with the following, very small complaint: When used on plywood carcasses, mask the surface you are drilling into. The spring is very aggressive, and if you pull the bit back a little too quick from the jig, it is very prone to slightly chip out the edge of the hole with the bit. Masking the surface should fix this problem. I had to go through and redrill once or twice because wood material kept getting hung in the grooves of the bit, but for the price, it is a solid performer. It's no match for a pin jig using a plunge router and straight upcut bit, but for being so portable, it is wonderful. All that said, I recommend it.

Had seen the product used on New Yankee Workshop and thought it would be a good jig to have. Have used peg boards in the past to do the shelf holes. It works, but left something to be desired. The day my jig arrived, I was building some upper kitchen cabinets and had just finished a small pantry cabinet. All these cabinets needed the adjustable shelving. In the past this process for me would have taken about 2 hours to have done, with all the measuring pencil marking and double checking. Then making sure the tape was at the right depth on the drill bit, and rechecking every few holes. With the Rockler Shelf Jig all I needed to do was to find my center points on the front and back of the sides and line up the marks on the jig itself. Next I had to decide which row (A or B) of holes to use. The jig works great with either framed or frame-less cabinets. The jig was very easy to assemble with the 3 screws supplied. The self-center drill bit made short work of getting the holes centered and aligned. Once the cabinets were hung and the shelves placed, a level was placed on the shelf and it was level. This has been the best jig I have obtained lately. I will be using it to finish my kitchen redo and then the new workshop/garage cabinets.

I am very pleased with this product. I dont know how i would have finished my bookcase without this product. All the holes were even and the tool was very easy to maneuver.

This is a simple jig and works well provided one pays attention to indexing. I strongly recommend clamping the jig down on the surface to prevent it from moving. One can drill the holes using a cordless drill, however I have found a high-rpm 3/8" corded drill works best and results in clean holes with no splintering. The bits are spring-loaded and have a hex screw that holds the brad-point bit in place. In my experience after about 40 holes or so the the hex screw becomes loose and needs to be re-tightened. As another earlier reviewer noted, it is no match for a pin router with a specialized jig (Festool sells these) but for the quick job this jig works very well and it has a place in my shop. Note, the 1/4" bit works well but there is also a 5mm bit available.

....kinda cheap plastic construction. The bit seems robust enough, but the jig is sub-par. The black plastic guide has compartments to hold the bit and assembly screws (clever thought), but it is too small and the bit barely fits - you have to sort of jam it in there: it's plastic is thin and I predict a short life before it cracks. The hole guide is acrylic and will probably hold up if you handle with kid gloves.

This product is great. I've used it a lot for my shelving projects. I got the 1/4 inch. Rockler has a lot of promotions sales. sign up for their e-mail promotions and eventually they will send you a 20% off promo code. Hmmm, Am I allowed to say that on an amazon review?

I've never used the one I bought but a friend loaned me his while I was building a bunch of bookshelves. This thing is awesome and allows you to quickly drill perfect holes for all of your shelves. They come out the perfect placement and depth with no tearing of the surface. I was working on oak plywood and couldn't afford a single mistake. This thing delivered and I was so hooked that I bought myself the same tool. Anyone building bookshelves or kitchen shelving needs this. Amazon had the cheapest price I could find.

This does exactly what it promises to do. On bigger shelving projects I could wish for a longer run, but since that would limit the jig to big things, smaller probably is better.

A solid idea that permits an unlimited number of perfect holes to be drilled without wallering out your home-made template.

Bought to help me with making bookcases and display shelves. I really like that it it longer than one I previously used. I don't have to move it as often. I really, really like the neat storage area in the handle since drill bits tend to sprout legs and walk away in my tool box. Easily clamped to the boards for use.
