I had two old platform rockers with broken springs, these springs fit the original holes and were very easy to install. The only suggestion I have is that the company also list the mounting bracket size. Rockler gives the overall dimensions of the hinge, which is larger than the mounting brackets. Very satisfied with the product and with Rockler.

holes were an exact match .... need to have a star head screwdriver or ratchet head to take out screws, I had the ratchet head that I put on the ratchet screwdriver .... turn over chair and extend foot rest to reach all the screws .... hardest part was to spread/pry apart new springs so the holes lined up ... what I did was install the 3 screws on the chair side of base , then use flat head screwdriver under bracket through the center of the spring to pry up the other holes to line up ... once I got the closest hole lined up I put that screw in with free hand ... tricky, then I did same for other side of bracket , little easier, then center hole was perfectly lined up!! chair works like new ... and now I have spare for when other side brakes as package comes with two.....

I put these on a antique rocker. The screw holes lined up. To think a chair from the turn of the century uses the same springs is interesting. We found this when we were cleaning out my wifes parents house.

***ORIGINAL REVIEW***

Good item.

Purchased these to repair my Lazyboy "Gibson" recliner. Spring assembly is not the same size as the original lazyboy springs but after some drilling and modifying the wooden base they work just fine. Not as smooth as the original springs but certainly worth the price.

I lightly spray painted them to match the "restored" furniture. I have never tried something so difficult, but it meets my hopes. I thought I would use brass screws, but they were too soft; I used steel and painted the heads the same as the springs, they are mostly hidden beneath the seat. I love sitting in the chair, remembering the "olden days".

The springs themselves are everything they should be. However, be carefull of your implementation if you are plotting a DIY solution. I put these under a seat too far forward, and when I sat down the balance shifted rear and the chair threw me over backward. If you are designing your own, please carefully observe the center of gravity and the travel limts of your structure. Nothing stops these springs from overextending in any direction.

Old (~25yrs) ladylazyboy recliner known around the house as the "Ninja napper" had a spring brake. I looked for a replacement I even bought a new chair, but it didn't hold a candle to this ratty old worn out chair. This replacement fit perfectly did not have to re-drill the holes just put the screws in and tighten up... back to napping...

I have a leather recliner I got from Sam's Club a few years ago. Both spring assemblies were breaking. In addition, there was a broken bolt and one corner of the frame was coming apart. These springs were an exact replacement, and were easy to install. It took me maybe a half hour. I also replaced the bolt and reglued the frame with Gorilla Glue. The chair is like new!
