Strong mechanism. Two issues are: measurement conflicts on the design diagram, and in the initial break-in period the roller bearings will wear down the painted surface they travel against and the paint will chip off unevenly impeding the free travel of the mechanism without a little helpful push with your hand. Once all the paint is worn off it travels normally though. In general a good mechanism, but I hope it gets engineering updates.

I just finished making my wife a sewing table and this lifter was the center piece of what turned out to be a really nice table/cabinet. The Lifter is more than capable of lifting her Singer XL-400 machine which I think is about 30lbs. The unit is easy to work with and the ability to adjust the stops at different heights makes it so easy to just dial in the settings. If your going to make a sewing cabinet I highly suggest you invest in one of these lifters, it will make you wifes sewing table so much more useful because she can now store her machine away with ease and she can use the table top for other work when the sewing machine is not in use.

Really, the manufacturer of this product is one of the few that make a sewing machine lift--and it is probably a wonderful lift, but there are no instructions or templates to show you precisely where it must be attached or how it works. Contacting the company didn't help much either--they don't have instructions but can send you to a website for a breakdown of the parts. I had to send this back and buy a sewing cabinet that already had one installed.

I bought a used wooden desk, and retrofit it into a sewing machine cabinet for my Brothers Innoiv-is 80 sewing machine by using this lift in the cabinet. The lift is quite heavy...all metal, but as a 5'2" woman I was able to work with it. The instructions are minimal and I guess I was trying to make it more complicated than it is. Once I understood the general workings of it, the rest was easy. Have been using it for over a year, and I am delighted with it. I got the sewing machine cabinet exactly the way I wanted it, and this lift makes raising and lowering the sewing machine very simple. I did need another person to help me holding it in place to mark the holes for the screws and for screwing it in place.

I am a 73 year old woman and did this instalation myself I do all home repairs this wasen't hard.I bought it because i wanted to use my 30 yearold cabinet with a fold down mecanism that would no longer accomadate the larger machines.it took a few hours but only because I had to remove a bottom shelf.I used the shelf to back up the unit most important keep level and centered front to back side to side.

Bought this and installed it on a sewing desk I built. For some reason, I had it in my head that it was motorized?! Guess because the price was so high?! But after receiving it, I'm thinking it's far better NOT being motorized! It was SUPER easy to install and it has great motion. Simply, push it down, it clicks and comes right up! Then push it down to go down. It has 2 separate "stops" when rising. One so the sewing machine can be level with the desk and the other so the machine can rise completely out of the desk. The first setting is adjustable so there's no need to worry about the machine you're using it for. Also, this thing is INSANELY strong, so there's no need in worrying about the weight of your machine either. It's VERY high quality material and after about 10 months of use, there seems to be no stopping it.

My husband installed this lift into an older sewing machine cabinet that I purchased from a local auction market. He wasn't sure how well it was going to work, but after soome careful measuring and planning, discovered a way to make it work perfectly. My machine is a Brother Innov-is 950D embroidery machine so he had to be sure there would be room for the base to clear when it was lifted up from below and still be even with the top of the cabinet so use was comfortable. He used a piece of walnut (stained to match my cabinet) and attached it to the lift. The machine sits snugly and the embroidery attachment can be added easily when lift is in the full-use mode.

I am so happy with how it turned out.

This lift mechanism is absolutely wonderful. It is a high-quality, German-made product (not cheap Chinese junk.) My husband had no problems installing it into a 1942 sewing cabinet. Now I have my newer free-arm sewing machine in a beautiful cabinet. I am THRILLED with this item. It is well worth every penny. It is easy to use too.
