5.0 out of 5 stars What a suprise!!!
I saw the movie and was hooked on the song Bankrobber. Not being a huge Clash fan, I looked at all the different CDs that song was on. Listened to the clips of the songs on the CD and thought it sounded pretty good. Turns out I was wrong, it is amazing. This is a great CD for popping in on a long drive. Well, I purchased this CD simply because I love the movie. Although the cuts were on the CD from the movie, it wasn't quite what I expected. Still good music.

Funny thing about getting older is it becomes hard to tell whether a music CD is rubbish, or you're just losing your musical faculties. I was listening to a number of albums in the car (e.g. Mutations by Beck & Hot Fuzz Soundtrack) and couldn't get the killer hook.

Then I played this CD. OH MY GOD is it good! Even though I haven't (yet) seen the film, I got into this instantly.

From the first dialogue track ('Ppl ask the question'), the Gangster Rock ethos floods out of the stereo, with awesome tracks such as 'I'm a Man' & 'Rock & Roll Queen'. Highlights also include 'The Gun' by Lou Reed and 'Such a Fool', although every track is the sort of raw, gritty heart-pounding brilliance that one would expect from the title, but which few could deliver...

Like all truly excellent soundtracks, this one has a load of tracks you probably haven't heard or (if you have) you can't place (e.g. 'Bank Robber' by the Clash).
Furthermore, the dialogue is an excellent selection AND (unlike Hot Fuzz Soundtrack) is separated from the music, so it can be sampled by aspiring DJ's.

Truth be known, musical appreciation does not fade with age but rather becomes more astute. Not only is this shown by the fact that compilations such as these can be filtered from the usual dross, but also by the fact that Guy Ritchie can still make soundtracks as good as his zenith of Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Here's hoping the film is as good...

This CD has featured every song in the movie, and the songs remind me of my fave scenes in Rock N Rolla. So far I am hooked when I hear the Scientists and the Subways. Every song is catchy, it's worth listening to if you're stuck in traffic (like this morning). It was worth the purchase

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock n Rolla genius!, December 13, 2008

The film, an absolute triumph, good to see Richie back on form. the music phenomenal! This is a great driving album and the added excerpts from the film make you laugh as you remember all the ridiculously brilliant shenanigans the characters get up to! "There's no school like the old school!"

4.0 out of 5 stars Genre skipping movie tie in, September 3, 2010

Soundtracks have a distinct advantage in that if you buy them you probably already have good vibes towards the tunes already. And as the album unfolds before your ears you'll get bombarded with audio signatures that remind you of a movie that you liked - otherwise it's pretty certain you wouldn't be buying the disc in the first place. And given that, the release doesn't really have to hold together as an entity overmuch and as in the case of this CD, it can be all over the place in terms of genre and feel and still work.

This soundtrack to the Guy Ritchie flick is quite definitely all over the place in terms of wattage enclosed. We get prototype pop punkers The Clash, we get Lou Reed, Wanda Jackson and rock bands like 22-20's, The Scientists, The Subways and waaaaay left of field stuff like the Russian language tune Dopilsya by Ex-Sektor Gaza. While much of the music here may not appeal to the average punter who digs Guy Ritchie films the ability to pick up a range of cool tunes that will bring back pleasant memories in one fell swoop is a handy thing.

Of course I have to mention the snippets of movie dialogue as per the soundtrack to Good Morning Vietnam and others. They do help to break up the album and provide another way of anchoring this album in memories of the film from whence it came.

If you loved this film and want to find a bunch of these numbers all in one place you could do a lot worse than slot this into your shopping cart.

Bought this after watching the movie last weekend. Great soundtrack to an equally great movie. The entire CD jumps from the old Ska days to some real eclectic gems.

This movie proves that Madonna has not talken Guy Ritchies mojo. The charaters are as fresh and fun as in his other movies.Johnny Qiud is so cool and Arch of course is the coolest. The movie has a good plot and I like that we never get to see the painting like in Rosemarys baby you never see the baby gotta love it !! The music is rocking as in all his movies and The Subways are a great find from that flick bought their first cd good band.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack but...., November 15, 2008
This review is from: Rocknrolla (Audio CD)
More to do with the artist listing than the actual soundtrack. The version of 'Have Love Will Travel' that is used in the film is actually performed by The Sonics, not Richard Berry. I don't own the CD so I don't know if its an error or if they used a different version of the song for the soundtrack and for the film.

Regardless if anyone is trying to track down the artist heard in the film it was The Sonics.
