The best shoe on the market for walking/standing. I am on my feet for 8 hrs or more a day as a bank guard. Very comfortable and shock absorbing. Feet and legs feel good after a shift. Not my first pair and will not be my last. A 60 year old could not ask for any better.

I first purchased a pair of these back in late 2010 I was very impressed by the build quality and materials of the shoe. The faux leather was of very high quality with very natural grain which made it distinguishable from real leather. In fact, it not only looked like leather but felt like leather as well. Flash forward to 2012 and I saw these on sale and decided to purchase a pair in the same color. To my disappointment it looks like Rockport has changed to lower quality materials now. The faux leather now looks very fake with barely any grain and a very rubbery feel to it. It no longer looks like a high quality shoe and instead looks and feels tacky. I figured the pair I received might have been a fluke so I exchanged it for another only to see the same thing. I guess for Rockport its a cost cutting move. See the pics I have uploaded showing the 2010 version of this shoe and compare it to Amazon's stock pics of the newer version. It's a shame as this used to be a very high quality shoe at a very reasonable price.

I bought this for my work shoes because the previous pair I owned wore out after about 8 months. I thought it was a fluke because I had a pair from a year earlier that are still wearable, and super comfortable. They just don't look as nice as they used to for wearing them at work. This pair is terrible, the laces wore out first, the freaking laces wore out?!? I had to buy new laces and a shortly after replacing them both soles under the front of the shoe cracked and now water gets in them. I can't wear them anymore.

I wrote this review because I'm back on amazon looking for a replacement pair but I honestly don't know what to do. Are there honestly any shoe manufacturers left that make a decent pair of comfortable shoes? I'm not buying another pair of rockports, for this price the shoe should last at least a year, I'm walking around an office not playing rugby all day.

TOP 1000 REVIEWERon October 18, 2012
I was excited to find these. They were priced right and they hit that sweet spot between an oxford and a tennis shoe that make them nice enough to wear at a (business casual) office, but not so dressy that I can't walk to work or wear them on the weekends. The chocolate nubuck ones also exactly matched the color of the shoes I was replacing - brown, but a dusty looking sort of brown that goes with lots. And all those positive reviews! Of course I bought them.

When I first put them on, they weren't exactly a delight on my feet, but they weren't uncomfortable either. The soles are thick enough to provide some protection but not so thick that I can't feel what I'm walking on. They weren't as springy as some walking shoes I've owned, but they offered at least a little bounce. They weren't as airy as some shoes, but I didn't overheat in the first five minutes either. (I guess the true test will come next summer, huh?) They seem to be well-made, and like I said, they're attractive shoes with just the right level of casualness.

So "good enough," I thought, and I wore them on my walk to work. I was satisfied for a while...and then the pain crept up. Not pain in my feet, though. Or even in my back. No, they gave me shin splints. Both legs. My feet aren't deformed and I'm not overweight. I have normal arches and have never needed orthopedic shoes or insoles or anything before, so I almost didn't believe they were the shoes despite that being the obvious conclusion to draw. All I can figure is that there's something subtle in them that makes me walk just a little...off. I've never had a pair of shoes do that to me before.

I bought a $10 pair of orthotic insoles and the relief was instantaneous. So I'm keeping the shoes and I still like how they look; I'm just a little peeved at needing to buy something extra to be able to wear them without crippling myself.

I purchased these shoes as a replacement for a 2-year old 5-mile-per-day Eureka pair of shoes that I've been extremely happy with. In doing so, I ordered **exactly** the same size/width as the ones I have.

Alas, the new pair has 2 big problems: 1) The leather upper is much stiffer, and 2) the width is noticeably narrower. Together, the shoe fit was tight--particularly across the front of the foot. After wearing the shoes for several weeks, I developed a painful tendon conditions. I stopped wearing the shoes, and after a few more weeks, the tendon problem went away.

I'm now back to trying to figure out how to get a replacement that's as good as the first pair of Rockport Eureka's I bought. Note sure if the brand has just gone down hill, or I got a bad pair.

This shoe is very nice for the price, but they seem to be less comfortable than other Rockport shoes I have had in the past. The insoles do not seem to be as chussy, as others. Normally I have no break-in time when I wear a new pair of Rockport Shoes. That is not the case with these shoes and I am almost ready to look for a set of Dr. Shools to insert into them. On the flip side the ankle part of is very well padded and thus makes that very comfortable.

I've worn Rockports for decades, but something has changed with this company recently and their quality has changed dramatically. Instead of rubber soles, there appears to be some sort of cheap hard plastic on the bottom and the once soft leather look has been replaced with a glossy plastic appearance. Sure, the shoes are about 15-20% less in price than they were just a few years ago, but who wants to wear cheap looking junk on your feet? Rockport, you might sell a few more pairs in the short term but your loyal customers will abandon you!

I had an earlier version of this shoe which is why I decided to purchase it again. Big mistake. The sole of the shoe is too rigid. It's like walking with a wooden board strapped to your foot. There is no padding associated with the insert of the shoe, just a thin paper like liner, so your foot slides around inside of the shoe. The insert is also flat with no arch support which causes your feet to hurt after a short time. There are also areas where the stitching (two different parts of the shoe stitched together) digs into your foot. I guess Rockport decided to cut corners in order to keep the cost of the shoe down. Unfortunately, what was originally a very good shoe is now a horribly cheap (quality) uncomfortable shoe. I hope that I can return the shoes. These shoes looked nice and I generally associated Rockport with high quality products but this one was a huge disappointment.
