As much as I'd like to write a positive review, the book does not match the personality of the Verlanders in person. So when you read the book, then you meet the people behind the book, you get the impression the book is just full of generic stories that could come from anyone, just insert character names here.

It should include a chapter on how NOT to choke in All-Star games and the World Series, but then it wouldn't be authored by a Verlander.

I thoroughly enjoyed the parents' perspective and felt many of my own challenges raising a baseball child. I had the privlege of taking the first photo of Verlander in a Tigers game back in 2005 at Instructional League and have the chance to exchange a few words early in spring training each year. Nice to read the background of a fantastic player.

If you are a fan of Justin Verlander, you will likely appreciate this book. There is thoughtful and helpful advice from his parents, and it's a nice, easy read. I'm glad I bought the book.

I love the story of Justin Verlander. I live in Michigan and am an avid Tiger's fan PLUS my son has been drafed by a Major League team as a right handed pitcher and is starting his professional baseball career. It's interesting to read about Justin's journey through the system and it gives us a better idea of what to expect. The story is heartfelt and motivating.

The book was extremely enjoyable and as parents of two baseball players we can relate to and confirm the stories we read in the book. We have shared many of the same experiences and the book contains very good advice and lessons. This is an excellent story of how a young man can rise to the top with the help of a supportive family and friends.
