The Dover Coloring books are all excellent! They are also an awesome value! We own and use over 20 of these coloring books for history and science. They are extremely detailed and educational, but even my 6 year old loves to color them! This book is good for its description of the rocks and minerals, but lets face it, coloring rocks isn't as exciting as going out and finding them. My son loves to color these while I am reading to him about the pictured item!

I admit I am slightly biased, since this book was written and illustrated by my granduncle, who is absolutely brillant. That being said, however, this little coloring book contains an excellant introduction to minerals that describes morphology and classification. It includes a description of several simple methods for testing minerals. In short, your small children will think the pictures are pretty, and your high school science student will find it educational.

The Rock and Mineral Coloring Book was very helpful, if a BIT more advanced than I had anticipated. It arrived very quickly which was quite helpful. My students enjoyed coloring the pages.

we bought this for a birthday gift for a 9-yo boy who was having a rock-themed party. He loved it. It was very detailed, and I loved looking at the pictures. All of the rocks are colored on the cover, so you know what the rocks look like. It looked very detailed to me, and I do not know if I would give it to just any 9-yo, but it was perfect for this child.
