5.0 out of 5 stars If your child loves geology, buy it!
My 9 year-old son has been into rocks and minerals for some time and loved getting this for Christmas. A collection of a wide variety of rock and mineral samples mounted in a sturdy cardboard box. Would be a nice addition to a science teacher's classroom materials, too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea done too cheaply.
I should have known that buying a rock collection of 100 for this price would be cheaply built. However, I did not expect it to be this cheap. Each specimen is glued in its spot. The problem is that the back of the box the specimens are glued to comes apart with little pulling. Also, each specimen has no name or number directly on it so if it comes off, it is...

I should have known that buying a rock collection of 100 for this price would be cheaply built. However, I did not expect it to be this cheap. Each specimen is glued in its spot. The problem is that the back of the box the specimens are glued to comes apart with little pulling. Also, each specimen has no name or number directly on it so if it comes off, it is difficult to figure where it went. With the box mailed to you, you can guess what arrives. A box with any number of loose specimens in it and little idea where they go (I had 15 rolling around).

I would find a better collection with individual compartments and the samples labled (So you can take them out and examine them). I do not recommend this purchase.

This is extremely cheap and poor product - especially for the price paid! DO NOT - I REPEAT DO NOT - buy this product. Now I know why there wasnt any other pictures available or the ability to enlarge picture of the product. By the angle that the pictures were taken, it gives the appearance that each sample is in some sort of tray or cubicle, when in fact they are merely glued to a piece of paper. Looks like a 6th grader put together this product. Extremely dissatisfied with the product and service with Amazon - they should be ashamed at offering such items. Will NEVER again buy anything from Amazon.

I am very happy with this collection. It includes a nice variety of rocks and minerals; comes nicely boxed with an informative booklet. It is more impressive than I expected and arrived in perfect condition.

Purchased this rock collection for my granddaughter, who is a rockhound. She has smaller collections like this one and other collectibles that I have purchased for her from other stores, but she loves this one in particular, since she can compare the samples to the ones she finds and collects.

Overall, a great purchase!

My curious daughter enjoyed this set. It had a lot of samples and was interesting to her because she could touch and see them. Every once in a while she'll get the set out and look through it again. This set would be wonderful for a classroom.
