5.0 out of 5 stars a pop-punk classic, February 21, 2004
This review is from: Rocks Your Lame Ass (Audio CD)
With the intrinsic snottiness/goodtime vibe of all the classic 70s punks rolled into one nattily-dressed quartet, Hagfish was one Dallas band of the early nineties that stuck out like a sore thumb, but shone brightly. Before the scene became so eclectic, most of the big bands of the time had the whole "Fraternity of Noise" sound down--e.g. Brutal Juice, Toadies, Caulk, et al., but Hagfish was there doing the fast, streamlined pop-punk stuff before Green Day ever dropped their platinum-coated "Dookie" bombs on the unsuspecting public, and it's a damn shame as to why Hagfish didn't turn out to be the big stars. As far as catchy, hook-filled melodic punk albums go, this has to definitely be in the top 10 of all time, right with the Ramones and the Buzzcocks. The band's tunes all pretty much sound the same, but who cares? This stuff flat out rocks, and singer/songwriter George Reagan (who is a dead ringer for Luke Perry on this album's cover) has an uncanny knack for melody. His voice brings tunes such as "Gertrude," "Stamp," "Happiness" and "Disappointed" all into the realm of "Sounds like Top 40 Modern Rock Radio." If you like Green Day and the current wave of pop-punkers, then you need this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hagfish knows how to please the ears, June 16, 2002
This review is from: Rocks Your Lame Ass (Audio CD)
Although Hagfish is not a music school graduate band, people who like short catchy punk songs will love this album. Hagfish was introduced to me about 5 years ago, I have since worn out 4 cassette copies of this album and lost 2 or 3 cd's of it to thieves also known as friends. From the first to the last song you will be surrounded with up beat lyrics and catchy riffs that make this album fly by. You'll get to the end and wonder why its over (and probably start it over). This album is definitely one of my top 20 favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you are Curious about Hagfish, this is the record to buy, November 23, 1999
This review is from: Rocks Your Lame Ass (Audio CD)
This record is loaded with really cool songs. We are not talking about the Dead Kennedys here, but these guys are currently my favorite band out of Texas. If you like Lit, or even Eve 6, you should definately give this one a listen.
