For an Indian who travels bag and baggage once every few years and has to deal with ACs and DCs and Voltage Up and Voltage Downs...this was a blessing in disguise. A lesson i have learnt all these years is nothing does it like the good ol mixer grinder from india and this is what you need to compliment that.

It works perfect in the US and UK and i dont see a reason why it would work back in India either.

A 1000 Watts Heavy Duty Step Up/Down it fits the bill bill perfectly as most of the grinders/appliances i have seen/used are between 500-800 watts. Its also got a USB out but i havent bothered using it.It comes with extra fuse and also Pins for converting from Flat to Round or vice-versa. 3 months and having used it almost everyday i think its one of the best investments i have made and for a price that doesnt do it justice!

Absolute must have....

This converter is well built, and it drives without any issue any "home" load (i.e. toaster, espresso coffee machines, blenders of any type... ) as well any type of DYT tool (i.e. drills, sanders, etc...). I use it to convert the US mains to the UE standard (110 VAC to 220 VAC): inductive or resistive load, it does the work (despite that one respects the power limit).
It comes well packed in a double carton. I choose the 5kW unit which is - as expected - relatively heavy, but when you buy such a powerful unit, you don't expect something you move all the time. As expected, it slightly warms when under load and, as logical consequence, it emits a slight smell (it the internal transformer sealing resin - and it's totally normal - I am an electrical engineer). Nothing too strong, and that's not a defect IMO but be aware. I keep it in my kitchen and it's not an issue for me and my family.
I bought also another unit (3kW) which is lighter and shares the same quality and performs equally very well.
Definitively a good product.

Ordered this 500 Watt transformer to use an appliance from Korea in the U.S.A. Per the manufacturer, I computed the amount of wattage needed for the appliance and then doubled it. So for example, I computed that my appliance required 210 watts, so I doubled to 420 and rounded up. The appliance I have (from Korea) didn't specify the wattage using "Watt" or "W", but instead said "VA". I believe this is the same or equivalent, but you should check with a qualified electrician if this is the case with your appliance. If your unit shows just Amp or Voltage, you can multiply the two to arrive at Wattage. Again, check with someone who is qualified before using the appliance or ordering a unit so you can ensure you get the correct wattage. My calculations worked well and the appliance has functioned without problems under constant load the entire time without issues at the selected wattage. My understanding is that you'll want to double the wattage due to changes in the flow of electricity and the appliance's peak demands that could exceed the normal wattage used or identified on the back of the appliance. Be careful for laser printers or microwaves (and other high wattage appliances), I believe that can have peak watt use of much greater than their rated wattage. I believe the rule of thumb is to multiply by 3 instead of 2 to arrive at the wattage of transformer you will need. If you live in a country that has inconsistent power delivery, you may consider purchasing a separate unit that regulates the voltage. Some transformers have this built in, but this one does not. If you will be using this transformer in the U.S.A. on a modern electrical circuit, you probably do not need a regulator. I did not purchase one and have had no trouble in the month of so that I've used the unit.Read more ›

Excellent product for heavy duty or long duration needs for heavy load items such as vacuums, water kettles, etc. A must have. One thing I've noticed over time...the 110V output receptacle plug design seems to be a bit loose, causing some fluctuation to the device being used...makes the Keurig a bit finicky as it occasionally shuts off due to the slip of constant current due to the slight looseness. Putting a bit of pressure on the device plug and holding it steady to transformer solves this issue, but it would be better if the manufacturer designed a better 110V outlet plug for a more snug fit.

Update...also got the 5000W model. This one is also excellent, especially as a safety net for the 2800W vacuum or similar devices, and the outlets have a snug fit. Extremely heavy duty, so you may need a little wheeled dolly for moving around :-)

This is a great device! It's intuitive to use. I have heard no noise from it. Since the room where the device is located is carpeted, I placed the device on slats to facilitate ventilation and avoid excessive heat. That probably wasn't necessary, but I wanted to be as safe as possible because the transformer is in my two-year-old's room. I have felt no heat on the device--the temperature seems to be no greater than room temperature. We have run the transformer non-stop since it arrived, and we haven't noticed any reason for concern.

Reviewers of other brands of similar transformers (e.g., Goldsource, Simran, Power Bright) complained about noise, the smell of solvent, excessive heat, and a concern about leaving the transformer running for too long. We have had none of these concerns with the Rockstone. It seems heavy-duty (really, it feels like it was built like a tank!), durable, reliable, and safe. We couldn't be more pleased.

The only caveat to my review is that we are running a very low-wattage device on the transformer (a GroClock, which is built in the UK and runs on 220 volts). But all of the other reviews that I have read indicated that the Rockstone transformers worked flawlessly, as long as you don't exceed recommended wattage ranges on the devices that you run on the transformer.
