Although I am very happy with my Rockwell Jaw Horse, I am less than happy with the plywood accessory. The first time I tried to use it, the spot welds holding the clamping surface onto the main part of the accessory broke. I debated whether to send the accessory back for replacement but decided rather to just drill two holes and bolt the part part back into place rather than go through the hassle of the return. Also, since the accessory was advertised as new, I reasoned that the exchanged part might have the same design flaw as the one I sent back and the fix was simple enough to do. It is not as pretty as it was but it works. If the product I received was indeed new, Rockwell needs to redesign the assembly of this part.

This accessory is simply a replacement jaw for the one that comes with the Jawhorse. I have found it to be quite useful and it isn't so large as to represent a storage headache. It has a significantly wider throat than the basic jaw and so can't be reversed. It also has a wider base, but not so much as to provide additional lateral support. It's very easy to remove and reinstall either this or the basic jaw on the Jawhorse, so that's not an issue.

For working with a 4x8 piece of plywood you need to do something to support the overhang (hardly surprising). 2 clamps are included to construct outriggers using either 2x2 or 2x4 stock to serve this purpose (think in terms of an 8 foot piece with a leg clamped on each end ... the cross piece is laid across the inside of the jaw to provide the support). It's a simple jig to create and is more effective than some of the silly things I've done using saw horses in the past.

I am a very happy user of the JawHorse, and the plywood jaws live up to the same quality standard.

The Plywood jaw is just a longer jaw with the same heavy-duty construction as the normal JawHorse jaw. It's easy to install aned works well. Includes connectors to quickly add outriggers made from 2X4's (you supply the 2X4's).

When I got my jawhorse I did not want to buy all the accessories for it, I wanted one accessory that with a little imagination on my part, I could modify to do several jobs. By modify I do not mean actually changing this plywood jaw, I mean figuring out ways I can get it to work as a worktable,a miter saw bench, and whatever else I can come up with.

I believe I picked the right accessory here. I don't need a welding jig but I bet I could figure something out using this jaw. As I said in the title of this review if you were to buy just one accessory for the jawhorse this is the one.

I see where others have downgraded their reviews of this product because it is too heavy. If you want a tool that is of good quality, and will last for years, it's going to be heavy. This plywood jaw will be around doing it's job long after I have departed this life. I'm a disabled older man and I do not think it is too heavy.

I'm very impressed with the quality of it. I knew it would be good when I got it but it turned out even better than I was expecting.

This accessory may not look like much, but what it gives you is another 14 inches of clamping in the throat, and the ability to make some outriggers for the Rockwell RK9000 Jawhorse to support really big stuff like a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Plus along with the bigger throat clamp, are two support gizmo clamps that you can use 2x2 or 2x4 as extension legs for the support.

Rockwell recommends that you make your outriggers out of wood, so that if you misjudge your cut with your saw, that you don't hurt yourself or the blade. (cutting into the Jawhorse itself would also not be good. But it's easier to see where the Jawhorse is than a wide underneath support beam.)

The new throat has 4 sets of screw holes, two at each end. For mid sized stuff, you can screw the support wood right through the throat. For really big pieces, just screw the back piece, and let the front one float on the extension legs. If you use a 10ft 2x4 it will sit flat, provided your extension legs aren't pushing it up.

14 inches may not sound like much either but it's the difference between clamping a piece of 4x8 plywood or going back to a sawhorse setup. And you bought the Jawhorse to have something better. So if you handle/cut the big stuff, even occasionally, it's worth it. Also the side leg support clamps can be used to support a 2x4 for a do-it-yourself miter box table. And has been mentioned, it doesn't take up much room in your shop for the rest of the time.

I bought this for my husband to use with his Jawhorse because he is always cutting plywood for one project or another. He is always wanting me to hold the plywood while he cuts or he is out there trying to hold the plywood with one hand and/or knee while he tries to cut with the saw with the other hand. Meanwhile, it is sliding one way or another or the board is bending or the saw is jamming while he is trying to cut.

Not any more! With the Jawhorse Playwood Jaw Accessory Attachment, he can tighten the plywood down and is free to cut using both hands on the saw. No sliding, bending, or saw getting jammed. He can cut a 4 foot by 8 foot sheet without my help. He does use other saw horses to hold the board up sometimes but he doesn't have to because of the tightening handle that he just pumps with his foot to get the plywood nice and tight in the vice. What a great addition to his Jawhorse!

Well constructed, allows you to hold extra wide items in Jawhorse. Found it to be exactly as advertised, and was very useful on the project I needed it for.

Tool is part of a fantastic tool system that I am very happy with.

I am highly charged on this tool system, It is built very very well and highly useful and Ingeniously designed to serve many functions that are able to be done with other tools but those tools (I own most of them) do not do the jobs with the strong simple approach of this tool. You will find many uses for it that even the inventor probably didn't see.

I am impressed.

I'm a handyman with only one arm and this is the bestest and mostest helper I've ever found. I can now do most anything alone. You should buy one!!!
