Plunge Cut Blades,

This review is from: Rockwell RW9121.3 Sonicrafter 1-3/8-Inch Standard End Cut Blade, 3-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement)
The blades are of excellent quality and make precise cuts with ease. I was able to cut through a hidden nail which dinged the blade, but after dressing the blade end on a bench grinder I ended up with a very good coarse scraper (really bites). I noticed the blades have a tendency to loosen with cutting pressure (blade holding area gets rounded & worn from the sonicrafters vibrations). Having 3 worn blades I decided to make a friction washer (60 grit belt sander material). That's sandpaper with a cloth backing, I cut-out circles the same size as the hold-down washer, used a hole punch to make a hole in the center of the sandpaper washer. When installing a used saw blade I put the grit side (homemade washer) against the blade, then the hold-down washer, and finally the set screw. This method worked great to hold the saw blade securely and even after making many plunge cuts the blade never needed to be retightened (this was a used worn blade). This simple "fix" solved the loosening & wearing problem.

These blades are very good for making small end cuts. Great item, you need these if you have a Soni-Crafter, by Rockwell. Darrell N. Dawson

I purchased my Rockwell Ocillating tool some time ago and got a number of standard attachments. The End Cut Blade was the tool I often came back to again and again and again when I needed a precise cut. It seemed no matter how often I measured my cuts and used a Jig Saw for my smaller pieces of lumber, my cuts were NEVER as straight. I've got a home that is over 70 yrs old and I had some electricians working on adding and upgrading the wiring. Most of the time they were using large power drills to make holes in my walls. I then gave the electrician my Rockwell tool with the 1-3/8 Inch Standard End Cut Blade to make the cuts for the electrial boxes and sockets on the walls. They were totally amazed because they were looking at walls that were NOW requiring little if any plaster or paint touch-ups. The comment from the electrician was that it was a shame that the homeowner had better tools to work with then they did. I just love the End Cut Blades.

End Cut Blades Review,

I have been using the Sonicrafter for sheetrock work. It's a great tool and makes the job of replacing damaged sheetrock a breeze. I would like to see the addition of a new blade design that not only cuts from the front but from the sides, that way once you make the plunge cut you can just pull the tool in a straight line to make a sheet rock cut in an existing wall. I do that now with the present blade but it would be much easier if the sides had teeth.

Needed a blade for making flush plunge cuts while repairing a damaged sub floor and these worked perfectly. Even with shipping they were about $12 less than my local retailer. The Sonicrafter once again saves the day.

The Sonicrafter is an excellent tool. I've used it to make a "Cat Door" in a 1 1/2" hardwood door. The price for the 3 pack of end cut blades was excellent so I purchased them to have for another project. While the Fein is the Rolls Royce, the Rockwell is perfect for the "occasional" user.

For anyone with a Rockwell multi-tool, you know how important these are. This is a great blade for a great product. I've used them to cut wood, some metals, copper pipe and PVC. They're no good on plaster though - just a heads up.
