Universal Blade Tooth Wear - READ,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rockwell RW9122.3 Sonicrafter 1-3/8-Inch Universal End Cut Blade, 3-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement)
The blade does get damaged by cutting nails, however, I am building a deck and here's what I learned. The "worn out" blade still cuts the nails because of moderate hand pressure, heat, and friction. The teeth did not really make the "nail cut" much faster because the teeth were gone almost immediately. I save the worn blades for cutting nails "only" and I use the newer "toothed" blades for everything else. Do not discard the worn blades as I have learned the hard (and expensive) way!Rockwell RW9122 Sonicrafter 1-3/8-Inch Universal End Cut Blade, 1-Piece

Perfect for cutting out sidelites,

This review is from: Rockwell RW9122.3 Sonicrafter 1-3/8-Inch Universal End Cut Blade, 3-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently purchased a Rockwell Sonicrafter which came with this blade. I cannot speak to how well it will last but I am a contractor which installs decorative door glass into existing doors and sidelites. I bought this tool specifically to cut out sidelites since the space is usually too narrow to use a jig saw and a saws-all just does not make a clean enough cut and is too hard to handle. My very first job with this was two fiberglass sidelites where I cut out the entire sidelite for a full decorative glass. This blade worked perfectly as well as the Sonicrafter itself. I was able to plunge cut without drilling a pilot hole first and being able to cut square corners with ease saved me time. The blade cut through the thin fiberglass like butter and did not seem to be any slower after cutting out two sidelites. Also I was able to cut all the way through the foam core so when I cut the other fiberglass skin on the other side the piece came out nicely and cleanly. This blade was perfect for the job, saved me time, and was a great investment. Now I will be interested in seeing how long the blade lasts.

A Star for Each Nail this Blade will Cut,
By
This review is from: Rockwell RW9122.3 Sonicrafter 1-3/8-Inch Universal End Cut Blade, 3-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement)
The manufacturer's production description says that this blade (RW9122) can be used on, "wood, plastic fiberglass, nails, non-ferrous metals, thin sheet metal, hardened fillers." The word nails should be singular. I cut one #8 galvanized ring shank nail and the blade is now useless. At one nail per blade, projects could get very expensive.

I ordered the 3 blade pack when I ordered my Rockwell Sonicrafter after reading reviews about the short cutting life these blades seem to have. I'm still on my original blade after 21 plunge cuts into 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch pressure treated pine with concrete behind it (i.e. the blade often contacted the concrete), 3 cuts through 3/4 inch flex copper tubing, and 4 cuts though 5/8 inch PT door frames over concrete. The blade is finally showing signs of laboring through a cut. I probably could have used other tools to make these cuts, but it would have been a hassle, been messier, and taken much more time than with the Sonicrafter. If I don't ever use this machine again, it will have been worth the puchase price!

Sonicrafter Metal/Wood blade,

Used the Metal/Wood blade to cut off a nail. The teeth were flattened after one nail. Tool works fine on wood.

I'm not sure what I did before this tool came along. I priced Fein, Craftsman, Bosch, and Dremel. For the money, the Sonicrafter came with the most attachments at that price. When I began to use the 1 3/8 Inch Universal End Cut Blade, I realized the versatility of not only the tool but the bimetal blade. I had to have additional blades as spares in the collection. I came to Amazon having dealt with them before and was not surprised to find that they had the best pricing on the attachments. I ordered and used (present tense) the blades for cutting brick mold away from siding, sills out from windows, flush cutting drywall under cabinets to retrofit backer board for tile and the list goes on. I was once again pleased with price, service, and shipping from Amazon.

Bought these to replace the blade I destroyed trying to cut a single nail in my deck. They might work fine for non-ferrous metals, but hit a steel nail and the blade is ruined. Please take note this is contrary to Rockwell's description of the uses for the blade; it definitely won't cut ferrous metals.

Always had used the standard shop tools, once I tried the Sonicrafter I got hooked! there are so many small and medium jobs that are made a breeze! In the addition of wall switches, indoor-outdoor electrical outlets; the tight cut pattern makes the jobs a pleasure.

I used this blade (only one) to cut over 70 nails while removing some batton boards...it finally did start getting pretty dull after all of those nails, but what else could do the same job...nice...slide right behind the board and wow. I had an Amish crew helping me and they could not believe the job it did...saved me having to cut and stain a whole bunch of new batton boards.
