We waited until Rockwell came out with this product instead of purchasing the Fein Multitask tool. We're glad we waited. The price was right, the selection of accessories is good, however this blade originally was described as a blade that could be used to cut metal. Warning, it does cut soft metals but the teeth wear down fast if you use it for that. I recommend if you find a need for cutting off nails or bolts flush to a surface, either buy these blades in bulk or try another method. Otherwise we love the Sonicrafter tool and find more uses for it everyday.

I've used a number of these blades since my Amazon purchase of the Rockwell Sonicrafter a year or so back. The RW9122 is designated for metal and wood, but will only last well if used in wood and other softer materials. The blade makes a slightly thinner and finer cut in wood than the Rockwell RW9123 wood blade does, and they will hold up if a soft nail is accidentally encountered - where a nail would very quickly ruin the RW9123 wood blade.

While the Rockwell RW9122 will cut steel nails, forget using this one on hardened nails or even for much use on any nails - it's just not cost effective. It certainly is no substitute for a good hacksaw - where a good hacksaw or hacksaw blade can be used. It is good for cutting very thin sheet steel, copper, copper tubing, brass, and PCV type materials, where nothing else can easily do the job. Use of this blade in cement board or mortar is also not economical and any use trying to cut ceramic tile is a lost cause - you need a diamond blade. This multi-tool blade is more of one that can work with fine detail where most other tools can't - and is often better for small detailed work than using other tools could accomplish.

This blade also has a useful depth measurement indicator in SAE and Metric on its sides, but use in other than wood will quickly erase the graduations. It's also good for making some quick plunge cuts for outlets into sheetrock, but even sheetrock use will eventually wear away the measurement graduations.

The RW9122 works out well only if you don't pressure it in cuts and don't ask too much of it, but it can be invaluable at times. A slightly longer lasting replacement for it is the Imperial 3RW300. I recommend keeping both of them ready for use with the Rockwell Sonicrafter. The longer lasting Imperial blade has a smaller neck that comes in handy at times, but has no depth measurement graduations.

One thing to remember ... never use more force than is needed to hold the tool in place during cuts, or you will wear any of these blades out far more quickly than normal. Forcing this type of tool into the work will not make the cut go faster.

As long as you realize this blade's limitations, you will love it. It is not heavy duty at all, but it is great for light trim work in tight places.
