5.0 out of 5 stars AIN'T NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING, BABY
This is the definitive account of the late-night phenomenon, recording in 1981. These two discs feature the entire film, music and dialoge, with "participation" including a lot of very funny, and very caustic remarks from the audience. One especially interesting thing about this CD is that it features the original mixes of the songs, which no longer appear...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hey Janet, I've got something to say...
If you're interested in learning how to participate in the Rocky Horror Picture Show experience don't start here...watch the movie about 30 times until you know what's going to happen next. Then buy the special edition DVD and listen to the audience participation feature, then buy the "Audience Part-tic-i-pation Guide", THEN get this CD to refine your skills...

This is the definitive account of the late-night phenomenon, recording in 1981. These two discs feature the entire film, music and dialoge, with "participation" including a lot of very funny, and very caustic remarks from the audience. One especially interesting thing about this CD is that it features the original mixes of the songs, which no longer appear on any circulating print or video of the movie. Noticeable differences are heard in "Frankenstein Place," "Time Warp," "Sweet Transvestite" and "Floor Show."

5.0 out of 5 stars The best is the Audience Participation Album, November 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
Any Rocky Horror fan can tell you that half the fun of seeing the movie is interacting with it. It wouldn't be Rocky Horror if you didn't. This album was made to give new fans a taste of what audience participation is like, and old fans a way to remember the classic lines shouted by the people at the 8th Street Playhouse back in 1983. It's a piece of history. It's classic, it's memorable; it's definitely the best album in Rocky Horror's history. A word of advice for new fans; if you listen to the album, don't necessarily think you can use those lines at your local theater. They tend to change with the location, the times, and the people involved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahhh - The good ole days!!! plus a reply to JA Patterson, December 8, 2005
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
How dare you say that this be taken out of print and call it an embarrassment. From the sounds of it, you probably weren't even born when Rocky Horror began.
THIS Audience Participation album is a TRUE reflection of what the show was all about when it became the cult phenomenon that is became.
You cannot call yourself a true Rocky Horror fan and call this album crap.
If it weren't for this "crap", as you call it, Rocky Horror would not be around today.
I went to the show (and played in it) over 400 times in its prime. Then I made the mistake of going to a recent show and buying the new DVD.
You cannot even understand what the audience says nowdays...they all just see who can scream the loudest and be heard. Had it been like that back in the 70's and early 80's...the movie never would have lasted.

This LP is AMAZING and it was so refreshing to hear it again and remember the good old days when people could have fun and not make everthing as raunchy as they could....like they do at the shows now.

THIS IS CLASSIC ROCKY HORROR!

5.0 out of 5 stars ...i remember,,,doing the time warp..., October 8, 2006
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
this is for j.a. and all those who have read his review...NO, NO, NO...don't even think twice about this being outdated...this is the original, THIS is the one (and only) to have...now...i will state that, yes i am a big fan of rocky horror...in fact, i used to go when it all began at the midnight showings...the 8th street with sal, and the uniondale mini-cinema, where i used to perform frankie...and it was great...then, after years and years of waiting, this album came out (on vinyl), and it was great...then the cd...great...however, i recently (about 3 years ago) went to a showing of rocky horror...not so great...the audience didn't know what they were doing, except shouting, screaming, and, basically, having sex on stage...no one cared about the picture, no one cared about the nuances of tim curry's character, and frankly, i think for most of them (born way after the seventies), it was just an excuse to act like they would probably act anywhere else...it was something, but it wasn't rocky horror...not like rocky horror was meant to be...this cd...this cd is what rocky horror was, and shall always be, to any true rocky horror fan...now if you'lll excuse me, i think i have a run in my fishnets...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Genuine Time Warp!, December 9, 2009
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
This is a true representation of what the Rocky Horror Experience was at its heyday in the theater that was its headquarters. Outdated as it may seem to someone who very well could have been conceived at the show, it's an authentic time capsule of the sex-drugs-and-rock-n-roll atmosphere that made The 8th Street Playhouse the Mecca of Rocky Horror from 1980-1990. Listen to it over headphones or good speakers and you'll hear every nuance of a typical night at the Playhouse from empty whippet cannisters hitting the floor to a couple making out in the back row. This is the real thing, folks, a slice of life from a time when there was still life in the show, as opposed to now, when it's more slick and the emphasis is on "screen accuracy" rather than fun!
A footnote, I played The Criminologist and Dr. Scott at the 8th Street Playhouse and subsequent theaters from 1983 until 1995, racking up well over 2000 (two thousand) performances under the name of Moishe Pipik.

Okay, I am a RHPS virgin. Never actually got to a showing. Never knew anything like this went on til after i got the DVD. Needless to say, I'm going to have to get to a showing sometime. This is just plain funny. If you are a fan of the movie, or just want to laugh, pick this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes you shiver with antici...pation, July 6, 2000
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
I must admit, when I first obtained this CD with The Rocky Horror Collection I was greatly dissapointed. The print was different, the lines out-dated and the American accents annoyed me. But now, I absolutely love it. I gave it to my RHPS cast and they now know what things are yelled and how the print will sound in the theatre. It does grow on you...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for the fan, September 24, 2010
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
Our local RHPS, which is called Lips Down on Dixie, doesn't follow this routine, and I guess you can hardly blame them after 30 years? But we really love this CD. There are some priceless moments. Some of them are simple, some of them are unrecognizeable individuals, and some of them might cleverly catch you off guard with the whole audience yelling in unison. The two cds included each have one track, and are a complete sountrack for the entire experience.
Let's call it a basic starting guide for the new fan. And a very fun one.

5.0 out of 5 stars The lines are outdated, but it gives a pretty good experience of what The Rocky Horror Picture Show is like in theaters, April 9, 2009
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Say It! (Audience Participation Album) (Audio CD)
The title of this review pretty much says it all. I also really like some of the little additional parts added to it. Not only does it create the atmosphere, but it really is an entertaining album to listen to. Although a lot of the lines are outdated, a lot of the lines are pretty funny. I want to keep a lot of the stuff to myself, just because if you haven't heard the album, I want you to be surprised.
