5.0 out of 5 stars You have been singing along for years: ready to go solo?
Yes, you read it right, this is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Minus the Vocal Leads." That means you can now be Riff Raff doing "Science Fiction/Double Feature" and "The Time Warp," Dr. Frank N. Further singing "Sweet Transvestite" or "I'm Going Home," or Janet Veiss (sorry, Weiss)...

3.0 out of 5 stars "ARE YOU HAVING A PARTY?"
Here it is, the "karaoke" version of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." This is just the music tracks from the movie, with background vocals only. Now you too can sing the roles of Frank, Brad, Janet, Riff Raff, or any and all of your favorite characters from the movie. Here it is, the "karaoke" version of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." This is just the music tracks from the movie, with background vocals only. Now you too can sing the roles of Frank, Brad, Janet, Riff Raff, or any and all of your favorite characters from the movie. This CD is great for anyone wanting a fun party novelty, or die-hard fans who want to listen REALLY closely to those cool arrangements. And, as a bonus, the CD has 2 tracks not available on the Soundtrack ("Once in a While" and "Planet Schmanet") plus extra verses in "Frankenstein Place" and "Sword of Damocles" that were cut from the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars You have been singing along for years: ready to go solo?, January 11, 2004

Yes, you read it right, this is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Minus the Vocal Leads." That means you can now be Riff Raff doing "Science Fiction/Double Feature" and "The Time Warp," Dr. Frank N. Further singing "Sweet Transvestite" or "I'm Going Home," or Janet Veiss (sorry, Weiss) doing "Touch-A, Touch-A, Touch Me," or Brad Majors (a**hole) doing "Once in a While," which was cut from the finished film (happy to have it, but the orchestration is not as good as what was on the original London cast album). There is another song that was cut from the film, "Planet Schmanet," plus extra verses in "Frankenstein Place" and "Sword of Damocles," so be on your toes people. Keep in mind that all they took off were the vocal leads, so you still have the hired help doing the "Oh Brads" and "Janets" from "Dammit Janet," the chorus work on "Over at the Frankenstein Place," "Time Warp," and the rest.

Now, I know that it would be wrong, a very bad thing indeed, but listening to this you are probably going to start having visions of getting your friends together and putting on your own performance of "The Rocky Horror Show." Then again, you might not have enough friends to carry it off, so that might be a problem. But if you have been signing along with "Rocky" for the past couple of decades, whether in the privacy of your own home, in the audience at the midnight show, or even up in front of the stage decked out in your black stockings and matching garter belts, then this is your opportunity to go solo. Are you going to imitate Tim Curry and Meatloaf from the cinematic performances ingrained in your brain, or are you going to strike out on your own and create your own version of Frank and Eddie? Anyhow, this soundtrack minus the lead vocals album is a great idea, perfect for "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Maybe it will catch on and one day we will have similar soundtracks for "Evita," "Moulin Rouge," "Chicago," and classic blasts from the past like "The Sound of Music." About time we had some high-class karaoke albums.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Karaoke is the best possible present for all of those who consider themselves number one fans. It is extremely entertaining and gives anyone the chance to sing along with out having to make the audition cut. Fun fun fun! ***** Five stars in my book.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent product and customer service, March 18, 2011
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Sing It! (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Minus The Lead Vocals) (Audio CD)
first of all, about the product itself, it is fantastic. just as it claims, it is a cd with original music minus lead vocals. This is NOT a karaoke (i.e the lyrics do not appear on your tv screen). So you must know all the lyrics by heart (as if we didn't already) or have the booklet handy while singing. Now I just want to say kudos to amazon for their fantastic customer service. I live in Mexico and placed this order around dec 20th. I just received it on march 10th though I was expecting it by Feb 8th at the latest. Amazon was very kind and understanding, had me up to date with all the holdups in customs here in mexico. Anyway they reimbursed me for all the shipping costs and offered a total refund if I did not receive my item by march 10th. luckily I did receive it though. This was my first experience shopping online with amazon and despite the inconvenience, they are still on my ¨reliable¨ list.

5.0 out of 5 stars So close to perfect, April 9, 2009
This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Sing It! (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Minus The Lead Vocals) (Audio CD)
It has all of the songs, but it's missing the end of "Planet Schmanet," which is not the easiest one to sing over because of the structuring done for the film. I also feel that for "Touch Me" they shouldn't have had Magenta and Columbia, or the "Creature of the night" part, but that's because it's a karaoke album.

I think that the addition of "Once In A While" is one of the best parts of the album. I also prefer the arrangement done for the film over the arrangement used for just about every stage production. Although I'm a guitar player, I feel that this is a song that really needs the piano.

I love how the narrator's verse is included in "The Sword of Damocles" and Brad's verse is in "Over at the Frankenstein Place."

The album is so close to perfect. I also think that it's great to be able to really hear the arrangements. It's incredible.

The quality of the music is just as good as the movie soundtrack, because it was made by the same people! I'm very happy with my CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrills, Chills, and Fullfillment at last...., October 8, 2006

This review is from: The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Sing It! (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Minus The Lead Vocals) (Audio CD)
This CD is excellent. It has recordings of all the songs from Rocky Horror, but exactly as it says-minus the lead vocals. The music is exactly the same as on the soundtrack/ in the movie, not some cheesy cheap midi sound. The lyrics are included in the book inside the case, to help out virgins to the songs. However, some of the choruses are not repeated, etc, which may be confusing to some, but anyone with half a brain can figure it out. I'm really pleased with this product because the quality of the music (and background singers) was far better than I thought it would be. Definitely worth the money if you enjoy singing along to your RHPS soundtrack.

However, some people have been lead to believe this is a karaoke CD, which it definitely is not. It will not display lyrics should you try and use it for this purpose. I'd just like to point out to all of those people that nowhere on the CD description does it say karaoke. Nowhere. However, I'm sure if you end up buying this CD, then you're probably already a fan and don't need the lyrics :D

Specifically, Time Warp and Science Fiction are my favorites on this CD. But like I said, all of the song sound great, and that I cannot stress enough. It can be a little confusing knowing where to begin in some parts, but it fits the original soundtrack so closely that you only hae to listen to it a few times before figuring it out. Wonderful, fantastic, and full of absolute pleasure!
