5.0 out of 5 stars A true classic
Indispensible, even if you are not a big John Denver fan there is a rare beauty, soul and reverance in this fine Christmas offering.

3.0 out of 5 stars So-So Christmas cd.
There were several really good songs, and a bunch of silly songs that I didn't care for. Would have liked a more "traditional" christmas mix.

I had bought this album a long time ago as a vinyl record. I loved it then. It was my very favorite Christmas album. Then my turntable broke. So I got the CD for Christmas 2006. John's voice is just as beautiful as I remembered. So clear, so haunting. All of the songs are so lovely, even the silly "Please, Daddy Don't Get Drunk This Christmas". But my very favorite song is "Christmas For Cowboys". When you listen to the words, you can visualize John riding his horse looking up at the stars on a crisp cold Christmas night. This truely is wonderful Christmas gift everyone should get for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas would not be Christmas!, August 23, 2007
This review is from: Rocky Mountain Christmas (Audio CD)
My mom has this album on LP and I still enjoy that version best. The one with the crackles and pops of being listened to too many times. I would never be without this album come Christmas. Every christmas memory I have has a John Denver christmas song attached. He will be forever missed but always remembered every December 24th.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Rocky Mountain Christmas (Audio CD)
Rocky Mountain Christmas is such a wonderful Christmas cd!...Thank you RCA for re-issuing & remastering this cd.Keep re-issuing & remastering more John Denver cd's including John's Greatest Hits Vol. 2 Cd. This Rocky Mountain cd is much much better than his Christmas cd with The Muppets. These songs are more heartfelt and bring out the real meaning of Christmas!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good album, good quality CD, June 27, 2006

This really is a wonderful album. I remember listening to this as a child and listening to it all over again has brought all those memories back again. In absolute terms John Denver does not have the greatest voice in the world, but there is just something very appealing about this collection and there is no doubt that he was a talented songwriter - "Apenglow" is a beautiful song, and like "A baby just like you", is a Denver original. The others are good interpretations of a blend of Christmas favourites, traditionals (and in this regard, "What Child is This" and "Coventry Carol" are particularly touching) and others ("Christmas for Coyboys"). An added bonus is that other than the two extra tracks (which are quite poorly recorded - "Jingle Bells" almost unlistenably so), the quality of the original masters is generally high.

4.0 out of 5 stars This album finally receives CD justice!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Rocky Mountain Christmas (Audio CD)
John Denver's 1975 Christmas album is one of those "feel good" collections for which he was famous. It has finally received its due, having NOT been mastered from whatever old production masters were lying around the BMG vault, and the sound quality bears this out. Besides the usual songs and carols, this album features several Denver originals, like "Christmas for Cowboys" and "A Baby Just Like You," which were released as singles. This is a must-have for anyone who enjoyed John Denver's music when it was popular, and will probably win over a few converts as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like welcoming an old friend over for the holidays -, January 30, 2010

Like welcoming an old friend over for the holidays, this CD is everything a holiday album should be. Purchased as a "replacement" copy for my original pressing copy, this remastered version has really been cleaned up. This ended up being my most played holiday CD this past year. The fact that the original artwork is back, just really took me back to when the vinyl album was released! Great Christmas classic album to own.

This is a wonderful mix of music. In my family, the favorite song is, "A Baby Just Like You." It's a beautiful song. John Denver had a way with music and a way with songs that can never be equaled. This is a great addition to any Christmas CD collection.
