Book Description

Victoria’s ticket out of her small-minded town has just landed in her lap. The problem? The camp-cook job description includes horseback riding, the one phobia she’s never overcome. She needs help fast, and there’s only one man’s name on her mind.

When the bold beauty with the smart mouth asks him to teach her to ride, all Joel can think about is having the beauty’s fiery passion in his arms, his bed, in the barn…hell, anywhere he can get it. But tangling the sheets leads to all kinds of unanticipated complications.

I love watching this couple grow closer and eventually fall in love.

It is amazing to see how one person can help another in more ways than one even if it means turning your back to the one that is closest to you.
The plot flew with an ease that kept me engaged in this story from start to finish.

Vicki Hansol has a bad rep as a white trash trouble maker. Sometimes she lets her temper get away, but darn it, she's got good reason.Vicki's not the same as her mom and sister. She doesn't sleep around and she's not looking for a sugar daddy. But it's hard as hell to live down a bad reputation, deserved or not. So when opportunity comes knocking, Vicki jumps at the chance to get the hell out of dodge. But first she's going to need help getting over her personal phobia. She lowers her stubborn pride and asks sexy Joel Coleman for the help she needs.

Joel has a naughty reputation of his own. He and his twin have been known to share a woman or two. But Joel has been growing up and he's tired of backing Jessie's play. He's had his eye on Vicki, so he's happy to give her all the help she wants. In bed and out.

Vicki was a heroine after my own heart. She was a spunky gal who caught some bad breaks because of her family. Joel was the kind of man that we all dream about finding. Protective of Vicki right from the start, he easily won my heart and cemented his place as favored Coleman hottie. Making their romance even more credible was the realization that these lovers had a lot in common. They both wanted to ditch the notoriety of their pasts and sometimes that is difficult to do . Much of the tension and conflict of this story stemmed from Vicki and Joel's fight to overcome their pasts and grab onto a new future. The author made this glaringly clear with all the disapproval and harassment that the heroine had to endear. Even from some of the usually open minded Coleman clan.

What was disappointing was the rift that opened up between Joel and his twin, Jessie. It was sad to see how truly nasty Jessie acted toward Vicki.

Vivian Arend is one of my favorite authors. And most of her heroes are the top two of my favorite hero types: werewolves and cowboys. Yummy! I've read almost everything she's written and never been disappointed. She is a truly amazing author. I love the Six Pack Ranch series so I was very excited to be able to read this early to review.

Vicki Hansol's life is full of turmoil and torment. Everyone judges her by her mother and older sister's actions. They think she's as easy as everyone else, when in actuality; she's nothing like them at all. She fights her way through life, dropping out of high school at sixteen so she can move out and not have to fight her older sister's boyfriends off in the middle of the night. Once she's unemployed with no idea what to do next, the kindness of one cowboy sticks out. He tells her if there is ever anything she needs, he's her man.

Joel has grown tired of the partying and cleaning up his twin brother Jesse's messes. He dodges the party that his brother wanted him to go to and stayed in town to go out with the rest of his family at the local watering hole. When he's on his way he runs into Vicki who has a favor to ask.

What starts as a bargain, she's his girlfriend and he helps her deal with horses and teaches her how to be a girlfriend, ends up being so much more. I loved this story. Ms. Arend drew me in and I still don't want to be out. I want MORE! I love when a book leaves me feeling like that.

I hate when the ending of a book is rushed, Vivian didn't do that here. She didn't rush the characters and left their relationship open for us to explore more of in upcoming books. I love that as well. I can't wait to read Jesse's story and see what the hell crawled up his ass. Even if he doesn't deserve it right now, I hope he gets his happily ever after. I hope Travis does as well, he's such a sweetheart.

It's a very good book, a feel good book. Keep up the amazing work Ms. Arend!

Town bad girl, Vicki, is looking for a way out of Rocky and away from her family. After being offered an assistant cook job by Karen Coleman for the summer on the trails, Vicki is ecstatic. The only caveat is she'll be riding horses. Horses are the one thing that terrifies her.
Joel Coleman is tired of being the other Six Pack twin. He's back from college and working the family ranch. He's trying to find a way to separate himself from his twin, Jesse. The games they used to play aren't appealing to him anymore.

After a chance meeting in town, Vicki decides to ask Joel for help to get over her fear of horses. Joel decides to take Vicki up on her offer as long as they date and are boyfriend/girlfriend until she leaves.

To me, the plot was good, but started to fall flat about half way through. I have read all the other Six Pack Ranch books, but this one just didn't seem to keep me drawn in. I loved the characters and all their quirks. I loved learning about what was going on with the rest of the family. Vivian Arend did an awesome job keeping the readers up to date. I loved when Joel finally told Jaxi to back off and mind her own business because she doesn't run him or this family. That was probably my favorite part of the book.

As for the story between Vicki and Joel, it was really sweet. It just seemed to get prolonged and drawn out. I was ready for it to be over. I wasn't too excited about the end. For me, it left something to be desired. It wasn't bad by any means, just ehh. I loved all the books and am looking forward to Travis's story. If you like the SP Ranch books, go ahead and read this, but don't expect it to be as good as the previous. If you haven't read the series, start from the beginning because the other books are great.

Vivian Arend in one word: Adventurous. In a sentence: Willing to try just about anything once. That wide-eyed attitude has taken her around North America, through parts of Europe, and into Central and South America, often with no running water.

Her optimistic outlook meant when challenged to write a book, she gave it a shot, and discovered creating worlds to play in was nearly as addictive as traveling the real one. She loves to hear from readers: You can also drop by for more information on what is coming next.
