Trophy Hunter 3 is a killer...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter 3 (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I'm new to the computer gaming world, and this is one of the games I enjoy playing the most. Put it in and go. Directions are easy to follow. Bang. Your hunting. No trying to figuire out how do I do this or do that. You can hunt anything from elk, Mnt.lions and Big horn sheep in NM to Brown Bears, Moose, caribou, and wolves in Alaska. Plus almost everything in between. You might actually get scared when a big brown bear charges you!! I Did! (almost anyway) Now for the down side. No Deer. I got news for you Infogames. There are deer almost everywhere there are elk. Big Mulies. Another downfall is if you shoot an animal late in the game and don't get get to it before sunset, you loose the animal. You also can't shoot anything in the water. I wouldn't shoot anything swiming, but a moose standing in 6 inches of water? Those are my complaints. Anyway, this game is better than most hunting games I've played.

I used to have the original Trophy Hunter and enjoyed the game very much. I thought it would be fun to get the latest version and try it again. I knew before I bought it that this is an older game and didn't have high expectations for graphics or features. However, one would assume the 3rd version would be better than the first. Not so. The first version has better features, makes you earn additional equipment, gain skill, select how long you want to hunt, gives you bag limits and a list of what you can hunt for, etc. It's all fairly realistic for a hunting game. Trophy Hunter 3 is far less advanced than the original. You get everything up front and can basically hunt for everything and shoot as many as you want. You even add poached animals to your "Trophy Room". It's very lame. Game control from the keyboard is also much harder than the original. I'd buy the original again, but wouldn't waste my money on III.

This is a good program for that "hunter" who wants to experience the thrill of the hunt from the comfort of home.

Excellent hunting simulation. Use a crossbow in Idaho, Alaska, Wyoming, and New Mexico. I've garnered as many as 35 animals on a single hunt! Idaho is a Moose hunters dream! Use a firearm in Colorado and BC as the hunting is just as plentiful if you stalk using a vehicle. The dangerous animals feature is your friend in firearm hunting because the animals will actually run to you after being hit. Great Fun!

The game is great, but it doesn't always work. During the menus, the screen skips around and you cannot choose items from the menu. Have uninstalled and re-installed and it didn't change.
