Great Album while driving thru gorgeous N. American country,
By Tim Huguet (AMSTERDAM Holland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rocky Mountain Way (Audio CD)
Put this puppy on whilst out driving around, pondering the meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything. There is a song for every conceivable type of landscape : "Rocky Mountain Way" obviously for mountains, "Meadows" for...well , meadows!!, "Turn to Stone" is for Badlands country, (with preferably as valleys and gorges as possible), and "I'll tell the world" a groovy Forest Song."Welcome to the Show" is best listened to on a Coastal Highway, and the best place to listen to "County Fair", is the country in and around Yakima, Washington. The images conjured up will leave you breathless. That leaves us with "Wolf" : a fascinating piece of work, which basically van be listened to anywhere; it's that good. If I may offer up something on a personal note, I'd say that this album is the best Joe Walsh compilation out there. And for this price you can't go wrong. So throw a spare tire in the trunk, polish up the car/truck speakers, hit the road and hit it good, with Joe Walsh: Rocky Mountain Way your companion every step of the way.

This album is alright for loyal, hardcore fans of Joe's. Apart from Rocky Mauntain Way, songs are a bit too mellow and folk-like to me. The sound quality is good and like I said, it is a good album for serious fans. Personally, I enjoyed the James Gang "Yer Album" and for those who really want to hear Joe at his best, I recommend "The best of Joe Walsh, Little Did He Know" which is a compilation of what I think is Joe's best work (at least of what I've heard so far). He sure does play the hell of a guitar, though...

This may well be the greatest CD ever for long car rides (Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy is up there too). The trippy, earthy, and yet very straightforward songwriting just rocks all the way through, and stays fresh over repeated listenings. It's interesting to listen to the nuances, but it's laid-back presentation makes casual listening almost as rewarding. Of course, everyone knows the title track "Rocky Mountain Way," and that is certainly a monster track. But there are many lesser-known songs that are also very good. Days Gone By has always been one of my favorite Joe Walsh songs, as well as the weirdly satisfying Wolf. Meadows is not particularly original sounding, but still a great tune. Joe always manages to put his own awesome style into everything, even when total originality escapes him. His guitar playing is never about speed or technical perfection, but something about it just assures you - this guy can play. I think I paid some ridiculously low price for this CD, but it was nonetheless money well-spent, and I believe you will agree.

BUT...not about this one ! Although this is a "compliation" of songs from other Joe Walsh albums....it's a EXCELLANT one to have in your collection... the play sequence is fantastic... each favorite is just in the right hearing spot... It's marvelous to listen to while floating in the pool....AND......you can't beat the price....If nothing else...buy it for a friend who doesn't have any of Joe's albums....they'll LUV you for IT !

Tasteful, addictive, and multi-faceted,
This review is from: Rocky Mountain Way (Audio CD)
If you've already read the foregoing reviews, you can see an overwhelming trend to consider this cd as one of the very best. I agree wholeheartedly, and I can't add very much to what's been said already. However, I like the CD so much that I had to write something about it. The guitar licks are just right..... Joe makes the most unique and characteristic statements, and on this album, the drumming is also similarly appropriate to the songs. If you have a friend who really doesn't know too much about Joe Walsh, but is a thoughtful,music-loving person, this would be a perfect gift for them. It's so much fun to share things you love, and to see them appreciated by others.....
