Rocky: Simply the Best !,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rocky (Video Game)
Having played the Playstation 2 and Xbox and versions of the game at ECTS 2002 trade show I can tell you that Rocky is quite simply the best movie licences ever produced and one of the best games you will have played for many a long year.Fans of the movie are going to love it because the game has a visual flair and an immense depth that recreates the sweet science of boxing perfectly and even if you have no knowledge of the Rocky films you will not believe the enjoyment this game can induce. The boxing itself is easily the best 3D interpretation of the sport to date and makes all other contenders, such as Knockout Kings 2002, Ready 2 Rumble and Mike Tyson's Boxing, look punch-drunk has-beens surviving on past glories. The single player mode is superb, but get together with some friends for a session in Exhibition mode and you can expect whoops and hollers to rival the best multiplayer games. This brilliant arcade boxing game is based on all five films, and a worthy accompaniment to them. The beauty is that gamers unfamiliar with the series will admire Rocky for its power and simplicity, while film buffs who know little about games will appreciate how true the spirit of the celluloid version it is. It has captured the essence of Stallone's scripts, acting and OTT fight sequence with remarkable flair.

Pretty good, not the best,
By Mark David Frankel (Winston-Salem, NC U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rocky (Video Game)
This game is pretty good, but it is certainly not the best it could be. This game has the "Good Things" and the Bad Things." I'll start with the good. The Good Things 1.The graphics are good, but not the best. Some of the boxers are not as muscular as they should be, but the graphics aren't solid like The Legend of Zelda Windwaker. 2. The story is great. It basically follows the Rocky movie series. I do wish you could be boxers like Clubber Lang and Apollo Creed during movie mode. 3. Every button on the left control pad is a punch, and you can use the arrows and the "R1" button to combine with the other buttons to make a stronger or faster punch.

This review is from: Rocky (Video Game)
I was in Sam's the other day, and I had 15 dollars to blow. I had a choice between this game and Knockout Kings, both obviously older games. I chose this one, thinking that the movie mode would be good. Boy was I right. I have never before beat a game by myself. Usually I get to about the 5th level and just give up and my brother beats it. Not so with this one. You have to fight in the actual venues Rocky fights in, from the chapel to the Philadelphia Arena. The only thing was that it is maybe too easy. The only boxer that I had trouble beating was Big Chuck Smith. This game stays true to the movies and the graphics are wonderful for a game made in 2001. Also this game stays true to actual boxing, not this street fighting stuff that some games have (Although Rocky does fight Tommy Gunn outside Mick's Gym). This game was definitely worth the 15.00 I paid for it, and I would reccomend it to anyone
