Rocky IV Music with Some Imitation Bill Conti Music,
By
This review is from: The Rocky Story: The Original Soundtrack Songs From The Rocky Movies (Soundtrack Anthology) (Audio CD)
While this "Anthology" of Rocky movie music is mostly satisfying, it falls short of capturing the real heart and soul of what makes Rocky movie music so compelling and distinctive. Presented here are the best vocal tracks from Rocky III and IV, which are worthy additions to any music collection. Also included are two Bill Conti imitation tracks of "Gonna Fly Now", both I might add, clearly inferior to the original.
I bought this album thinking I could get the best of the Rocky music without having to buy all the originals. What I found is that the originals are what makes makes Rocky movie music so distinctive. Rather than purchase this album, I'd buy the original Rocky IV and the original Rocky soundtrack; there is more music, and it is all "real" Rocky music. Another option is to purchase the latest Rocky Anthology, "Rocky Balboa". Jim "Konedog" Koenig

Rocky Story Review,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rocky Story: The Original Soundtrack Songs From The Rocky Movies (Soundtrack Anthology) (Audio CD)
I reviewed this same CD a little over a year ago and a thought it was the best Rocky CD ever, boy was I wrong. I mean I don't regret buying it but if you buy the Rocky IV CD you don't need to worry about getting this one, the only difference is that they put a "new" version of Gonna Fly Now on the CD, big deal. I have the first Rocky CD and Rocky IV, I am getting Rocky II, and planinng to get Rocky III, so basically I'm all set. If I were to make a Rocky Story CD here is how I would do it: (songs are not in order) 1. Fanfare for Rocky (Rocky I) 2. Gonna Fly Now (original version) 3. Gonna Fly Now (kids version) 4. Going The Distance 5. Take You Back (Rocky I) 6. Butkus 7. The Final Bell 8. Redemption (Theme From Rocky II) 9. Eye Of The Tiger 10. Conquest 11. Burning Heart 12. No Easy Way Out 13. Go For It! (Heart and Fire) 14. War (Rocky IV) 15. Training Montage (Rocky IV) 16. Alone In The Ring 17. Living In America 18. Take You Back (Tough Gym) (Rocky III) 19. Rocky's Reward (Rocky I) 20. Heart's On Fire 21. Vigil 22. Adrian 23. Mickey 24. Pushin' 25. The Measure Of A Man Now that would truly be a Rocky Story soundtrack!

Get all your Rocky music in one great album!,
This review is from: The Rocky Story: The Original Soundtrack Songs From The Rocky Movies (Soundtrack Anthology) (Audio CD)
This CD eliminates the need to go out and purchase all of the past Rocky releases. With this excellent compilation, you get two versions of the classic Rocky theme song, "Gonna Fly Now," in addition to an inspiring "Training Montage." There are two songs by Survivor, "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky III and "Burning Heart" from Rocky IV. Also from Rocky IV is the James Brown's fun "Living in America," Robert Tepper's excellent but little-known "No Easy Way Out," John Cafferty's "Heart's On Fire," and "War" by Vince Di Cola (who also does "Training Montage"). A great overview of the best Rocky music from the first four films.
