Book Description

December 1, 2011
One night in Rock Creek Park an undercover cop, Sooty Settles, dies from a self-inflicted gunshot wound amid the cherry blossoms of Washington,DC - the price a good cop paid for going on the down-low. But his widow, Etta, isn't buying it. Her husband has been murdered -- executed! At her request, Frank Rococo, a retail loss prevention specialist who catches shoplifters for a living begins his amateur investigation...Etta completely unaware that it was Rococo who shot Det. Settles in the chest that night using a Colt .45 revolver although the autopsy makes no mention of a chest wound; only that death resulted from a headshot with a bullet fired from a .38 Special. Such inconsistencies nag Rococo's "gut" as he uncovers even bigger clues until the situation he's facing proves far greater than anyone could have possibly suspected: the gatekeeper of corruption to Capitol Hill conspires to control the order of political chaos in precipitating a meltdown of the U.S. financial system by detonating a fiscal time-bomb on Wall Street. But the real surprise for Rococo...is who killed Sooty Settles.

Editorial Reviews

Review

A good exciting read. It was frightening to realize that a few people in government could manipulate the legal system and the economic system. The sleazy sexy side, be it fiction, might be responsible for a lot of failed relationships. The ethnic background of characters will cause you to imagine them when you move around our (the Washington metropolitan) area. For me, everything was just right. --John Dannett, Washington, DC

In the genre of a Tom Clancy and Dan Brown, the characters were well drawn, the story well written, ethnically diverse, the plot is very complex. Good for murder mystery fans. --Alberta Staigerwald, Towson, Maryland

More About the Author

Nearly all creative minds start out early in life; for Frederick Louis Richardson it began at age 11 in the attic of his parent's home in Pittsburgh, PA.

Short stories, poetry, plays--even scripts written for 8mm movies, one starring his sister Adrena, who played herself...and her evil twin--all the product of Frederick's fertile mind. His prodigious efforts continued throughout high school and during a stint in the Marine Corps entertaining fellow recruits with original songs and stories to escape the isolation of boot camp.

Later, Frederick would write, produce and direct stage plays for the Hill House community center in Pittsburgh then for the City of Kansas City (MO) Linwood Multipurpose Center. And through his production company, Demundi, he staged the first black production at the historic Folly Theater while also becoming the first black columnist to write for the Kansas City Star, the weekly column "Blackbeat".

With partner, Paula J. Wright, he developed a local TV show under the sponsorship of a Texas hair-care products company, produced a short video production and TV pilot. Frederick, together with Ms Wright, would go on to develop for Michael Jackson a feature film script, "The Pied-Piper of Harlem" and a children's program for PBS, however both projects failed to materialize.

Subsequently, Frederick worked with Kansas City real estate developer Marion Trozzolo developing the motion picture project "Battle for the River Quay"; and appeared in the film, Kansas City, under the direction of Robert Altman.

His first published novel, Black Rush (winner of a grant from the D.C. Commission on Arts and Humanities) was the first story about vampires who didn't fear daylight. His second book awaiting publication, The Rococo Paradox introduces amateur detective Frank Rococo tracking down the killer of a D.C. police detective, leading to Wall Street and the truth behind the economic meltdown.
