I've been searching for YEARS for this HBO comedy special from 1986. I thought this was it... and it is, but only PART of it. Bob Nelson's football routine from 1986 was the funniest comedy ever. IT'S NOT ON HERE. Only the Jiffy Jeff boxing part is included. It's still funny, but it's not the football routine. Also, the Sam Kinneson part is funny but it's not the one I was looking for either. I'm pretty bummed.

Brilliant, completely and entirely brilliant. This DVD is almost a crystal ball into the future of American television; while many claim the Johnny Carson show as the launching pad of many a career, this is almost a collection of those great talents. Jerry Seinfeld, Rosanne Barr, Sam Kinison, and the late Bob Nelson and Robert Townsend weren't just influential to American culture and television they molded and created it. The only thing I wanted after watching this was more, the bits were only about 5 minutes a piece.

It was interesting to see the talent that Rodney found. Besides being great himself, he also tried helping aspiring comedians. Rodney went to my public school and lived in Kew Gardens, Queens and I know he strugged hard for a long time until he became famous. I wish that the DVD had a bit more of Rodney and shorter pieces of the others.

The content this DVD brings to the table is absolutely hilarious. Rodney does small stand-up bits in the beginning and then introduces a killer line-up of young comedians. Ironically, each person Rodney showcases is a big star now. You will be surprised when you see talents such as: Tim Allen, Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Foxworthy, Andrew Dice Clay, Bill Murray and many more.

Rodney transitions between acts by performing skits (usually off stage or on set). These are equally if not more entertaining than the bulk of the program.

I highly recommend any one of these DVD's from this collection. However, I must warn you that even though these are dated, the content is still very questionable for this day and age.

This is one of my favorite HBO specials from the 80s. I rented the video back then and was so glad to find that it was available in DVD. Rodney was my favorite at self-depricating (sp?) humor and he was classy at the same time. He introduced some great young comedians in this segment.

What can be said, Rodney is Rodney and that's enough to get you belly laughing. The troup of superstar comics before they were famous is just an extra bonus in this gut splitting show. The performance of these great comics in the early years is really great and you'll enjoy seeing them as they grew into the superstars the are today.One laugh after another in this hour long comedy fest. A must have for all true Rodney fans!

If you are a Rodney fan - this should be part of your library. Rodney was in his prime in the 80's - and this is a fun and rare look back when he was in top form. If you want to see some classic Rodney stand-up, he is also featured in The Best of The Tonight Show - Stand-Up Comedians (2 Discs)
