Biography

His real name is Rodolfo Páez, like his father. When he was a child people called him "Rodolfito" (in Spanish, an affectionate form of "Rodolfo") to distinguish him from his father. With the passage of time, this nickname became just "Fito", and that is where his stage name came from.

He formed Staff, his first band when he was 13. In 1977, he played ... Read more in Amazon's Fito Paez Store

Otra vez un muy buen album de nuestro Fito querido. Solo voz y piano, pero un solo sentimiento. Me gusto mucho. Melodias y letras casi perfectas. El que no tenga este album aun, se esta perdiendo de mucho :)

If you've never heard Fito Pae before, you're best off purchasing his classic: El Amor Despues del Amor (1992) which showcases Paez's music and lyrics at its best. While the melodies are nice, and afficionados will enjoy listening to new work from this brilliant musician, the album fails to entice the listener based solely on the quality of the music. Paez's voice at times sounds flat and the piano often leaves the listener wanting.

If you were to categorized Paez's albums as either "artsy" (i.e. for the sake of the artist) and "popular" (i.e. music written and intended for a broad audience), this new album would fall into the former category. Rodolfo is all about a musician who's grown very comfortable in the last few years singing with only piano accompaniment. Paez's best work is more pop-oriented than Rodolfo; unfortuantely he hasn't produced a great album of solo work since Abre in 1999.

The latest studio recording from Fito Paez is different from previous works in the sense that the musician decided to record this album on his own. No band at all, just him and his piano. The album's name, "Rodolfo" gives you an idea of how personal this work is. After "El mundo cabe en una cancion", Fito surprises fans again by releasing an incredible album.

Prior to the release I had my doubts when it was announced it would be a studio album of Fito and his piano. From the very fist listen I fell in love with it and has become one of my favorite albums of his along "Naturaleza Sangre", "El amor despues del amor" and "Giros"

This album is a clear testimony of the great musician/lyricist he is, to create an album so complete without a band and with only one instrument doesn't sound like an easy task for any musician, yet Fito accomplishes it with great results.

Many of these songs are instant classics, and listening to them live with piano versions of songs like "Hay algo en el mundo", "11 y 6", "Dar es dar" and others was an incredible experience. The album opens with "Si es amor", some of the best lyrics he has written recently to my taste ("Cae la noche en Okinawa" is also notorious for its lyrics). The sad ballad called "Sofi fue una nena de papa" that tells the story of a girl abused by his dad is one of my favorites of the album, the story is sad and Fito sings it with a feeling that makes the song sound even better.

Fito se quedo amarrado a los 90
Este disco tiene nuevas canciones, con letras interesantes, pero no me parece muy diferente de Euforia Paez.

Vale la pena para los hinchas a muerte de Fito pero ya es hora de evolucionar.
