Wow,

We were having trouble with roots in our main sewer. We had water backing up into the basement laundry room whenever we took a shower. The city came out to clear the lines, and we hired plumbers to come out also to clear the lines. Every 6 months it seems the roots returned. I ordered this product to just see what it would do. I use 2 bottles down the toilet every six months for the past 2 years, and I have not had to call a plumber or get the wet vac out since.
It is nice when a product just does what it says. I am a very satisfied customer.

Best Root Killer on the market,

We have tree roots in our sewer line, in the middle of the city street. Not exactly the best of situations. After years of constantly having to "regularly" pay to have the roots cut out, and trying all sorts of root kill products, I finally found this on Amazon. The foaming action is the key. It fills the entire sewer line, including the top, where many roots invade...... result, it kills them. I use it about once a year, and have had no problems for quite a while now. Highly recommended.

Seems to be Working,

Had our pipe scoped out to the main - some root penetration was visible at the seams - hopefully this product is keeping them back - so far, so good...
Note - you need to get this stuff out of the container in one shot, as it starts foaming immediately, so make sure it's not clumped up before you try to empty it.

It Flat out Works,
This review is from: Roebic FRK-6 Foaming Root Killer, 1-Pound (Lawn & Patio)
Seven years ago our main sewer line started backing up into the house. I rented a plumber's snake and routed the line. When I removed the snake, the cutting blade was filled with small tree roots. After researching "root killer systems" I tried Roebic. I have been using it once a year since with no recurrent sewerline problems. It works wonderfully. As has been stated elsewhere, the product tends to clump in the package over time (I buy mine a year in advance). Don't try to empty this clumped product directly from the package into the toilet or it can overflow. I dump it into an old coffee can or pail and use an old fashioned mashed potato masher to break up the clumps and then dump it into the toilet from the larger container. Also, do not stand there and watch it work or you will watch it overflow. Flush immediately after pouring the entire contents into the toilet. Wait a few seconds after toilet refills and then flush again. Try to do this at night before bed time or before you go out for the day to let the product work as undesturbed as possible for several hours.

It soften the roots for sure, but it doesn't deteriorate and clear away. The website saids "it would take up to 2 to 7 days to clear the line" and I waited for 4 weeks, my sewer was still backing up. I had to finally rent a rooter from Home Depot to push the roots through. The product made it a easy push, if it wasn't for the FRK, I will need to pull it out. AND THAT would have been a hell of a mess. All and all, FRK did half of what it was suppose to do in "2 to 7 days" and it has a lot to do with the severity of the blockage. I would recommend this product for severe existing root problems but followed by a "push" using a sewer rooter snake. Once the line is cleared, you'll maintain it with this product. I will continue using this every 3 months to make sure the roots doesn't grow back, or if it does, this will kill it before it builds a blockage.

I've bought this online various places (once a year) and my problems went away once I started using it. I have always had it come clumped. There are two parts, the root killer itself and the stuff that foams, they are in the bottle separated by a piece of paper. Dump them out in a
container (I use an old yougurt container then discard it), mix the two powders THEN dump it. Wear gloves and googles, be careful (just in case)

I live in an old house, and suddenly started experiencing sewer line problems. My toilet would bubble when I showered, and my clothes washer started overflowing the stand pipe when it drained. I feared I'd have to call out an expensive plumber or roto-rooter service, but saw this stuff, and all the good reviews, so decided to give it a shot. I figured... maybe I can save myself some money. I am, however, the world's biggest skeptic, so I didn't really believe it would work. I bought two of the 12-quart sized bottles. I put the first one in the toilet, flushed it 3 times, and went to bed. By the next day, my toilet wasn't bubbling when I showered. I thought... nah... too good to be true. Must be a coincidence. The second day, still no bubbling from the toilet. So I put in the second jar for good measure. Today, four days after putting in the first jar, I tried a load of laundry, totally expecting the usual flooding overflow, but my washer drained three times, PERFECTLY!
I'm telling you... it's worth a $35-40 investment to try a couple jars of this stuff. I saved myself about $1000 in plumbing/roto-rooter charges, and you can bet I'll be putting it in my pipes a few times a year as preventive maintenance!

We moved into an older home about a year ago and a fifty year old magnolia tree was growing directly over our sewer pipe. Since we had older plumbing, the pipes were terra cotta so the tree roots could easily grow and find their way into our sewer line. We noticed our drains were becoming a bit slow as of late, so we tried this product. I did not notice a huge change at first, but after about 9 days, something "broke loose" and now our drains run much faster! FYI--we had to cut that magnolia tree down, but we were told that until the stump completely dies, the tree roots still keep growing--so until then, we will be using this product annually.

Just like it says!,

The label says, "Takes 2 days to a week to see results". By golly, in 2 days, it started clearing the line!
As others have stated, I was surprised with the clumped up product in the container, luckily, a hard squeeze to the sides and it all came out. I have a low flow in the basement, so I had a bucket of water ready to pour in once it started flowing, and gave it one last flush after that, then left it overnight to work. Sure enough, 2 days later, no more "bubbling basement toilet"!!!

I bought this on the recommendation of a neighbor, who is also a plumber. My house is over 70 years old and there are a number of trees in the yard. I had mentioned I noticed some flow and drain problems with the toilets and sinks, and he suggested there may be roots in the system and that this might be cheaper than having the system scoped and cleaned. I used it about 2 months ago and have noticed no more problems with toilets flushing properly or drains gurgling or backing up. I would recommend that you mix the product in a separate pail as suggested and immediately flush the toilet as recommended as it foams pretty quickly. This will definitely be part of my annual maintainence project.
