5.0 out of 5 stars Rogamar
An extraordinary CD. Her voice is smoother than ever. Nice mix of Cape Verdian music, Brazilian carnaval and some French traditional raconteur music.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing
Somehow not up to her earlier work. The instrumental accompaniment is good, but tends to dominate at the expense of Cesaria's voice and the songs don't strike me as particularly memorable. One reviewer said this was perhaps the best thing she's done. If so, I just don't see it. I was disiappointed and found myself wondering if maybe her best days are behind her. I hope...

5.0 out of 5 stars As always, a true pleasure, June 5, 2010

Once again "The Barefoot Diva" comes through with a great album. I find ALL music from the Cape Verde islands to be among the most melodic the world produces, and Cesaria is the undisputed "Queen of the Morna".

If you have ever listened to her sing, then I suspect that (like me) you will want every CD she has recorded.

What the Babe did for baseball, what John Wooden did for basketball, what Amalia Rodrigues did for Fado . . . Cesaria Evora does for the Morna and Cape Verde . . . in a league of her own.

I bought this book for a physician on my job at Christmas. I had already purchased Cafe Atlantico for myself and love it. He's from Ecuador and loves this CD. We are Ms. Evora's new fans. I suggest you buy Cafe Atlantico first.
